Penn State vs. Phillies

POSTED: Wednesday, October 22, 2008, 10:37 AM

In other parts of the state, this question has little meaning, but for those that are both Penn State football and Phillies fans, how do you plan on watching both games Saturday evening? Do you TiVo the Phils on FOX and watch the Lions play Ohio State on ABC? Or is vice versa? Or do you work that remote until the "last" button is worn to a nub? Or do you set up two TV sets and bob the head back and forth as if you were at a tennis match?

I know what I'm doing: Watching the Penn State game because I'm paid to do so. But I'm sure I'll be peeking at my ESPN Gamecast in between breaks in the action and my stabs at writing on deadline. I'm getting exhausted just thinking about it.

So let me know. We'll take a running tally in the comments box. Oh, and go Phils!

I can't watch two games at once. I have to totally concentrate on the one I'm watching (ask my wife!). So I'm going to watch PSU (I'm an alum and get to a game or 2 every year) and I'll DVR the Phillies (I've been a fan for almost 50 years - used to listen to Richie Ashburn with my transistor radio in bed at night). I'm not sure if I'll watch the recorded Series game in the middle of the night or get some sleep and watch it first thing in the morning. Ain't it great!

I'm sure Home D or Champs here in State College will have both games on... unless I'm on the ambulance picking up our overpopulation of drunks. In which case, they'll have the 'intoxicating' sounds of espn radio on their ride to mt. nittany shock trauma. Go PHILS! Fight on STATE!

Buckeye Fan and Phillies Fan in NYC...Picture in Picture on the DVR w/ lots of pausing and not a lot of talking to other people. This is a huge game for both teams from a national perspective...OSU needs to get its name back and PSU needs to get a name. This is PSU's last shot against OSU for 4 years at least...sorry PSU fans.

I'm excited for the Phils, but you'll need a crow bar to get between me and the Nittany Lions game.

Where are you in Nebraska? My fiance is in Omaha (med school) and he is watching the Pennstate game, I am in center city and will be watching the Pennstate game with the "last button" to watch the phillies during all commercials, timeouts and half-time.

To osuphan....what a class-less comment. FYI - PSU does have a name and we've had one for a long time, it's Linebacker U, thank you.

Penn State all the way! Although it will be a tough game,I think we break this losing streak at Columbus this Saturday. Good luck to the Phillies...I'll stay on top of the score during the PSU game.

Moot point. Phils game will be rained out on Saturday. BTW, isn't this why ESPN has the bottom line?

I'll be working the remote all night. Jeff - Why doesn't the Inquirer send you to the game?
