Penn State-Michigan pre-game notes

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. --

1. Starting guard Stefen Wisniewski reportedly strained his left knee during practice this week, but was expected to go, coach Joe Paterno said on his weekly radio show Thursday night. The sophomore came out early for pre-game warm-ups with a very large brace on his knee. He's been stretching and testing his knee a lot, but looks fit enough to play. Stay tuned.

2. Guess who was strolling the grass at Beaver Stadium 45 minutes before the game? Yes, Paterno looked able and ready to stand on the sidelines for tonight's game. Whether he does, remains to be seen. He has been up in the coaches' box for the last two games, but has said that he was taking each game on a week-to-week basis. Also, he didn't have his cane, as you might expected. If there's one game Paterno wants to lead his troops out onto the field for, it's a Homecoming tilt against rival Michigan.
