Penn State-Michigan first quarter update

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. --

1. Despite making it out onto the field for pre-game warm-ups and a meet-and-greet with Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez, Joe Paterno was in the coaches' box for the third straight game.

2. Mickey Shuler, who has been hobbled by a sprained ankle, started at tight end. Stefen Wisniewski started at right guard even though he has a strained knee.

3. Lydell Sargeant started at right cornerback in replace of A.J. Wallace, who has started the last two games.
