Penn State is one of five Big Ten teams ranked in USA TODAY's preseason coaches poll, which was released Thursday. Coming off a 7-6 season, the Nittany Lions are the final team in the rankings, checking in at No. 25. Oklahoma took the poll's top spot, garnering 42 of 59 first-place votes. Alabama, Penn State's week two opponent, is No. 2.

Wisconsin is No. 10, while the conference's newcomer, Nebraska, is ranked 11th. Despite the program's recent turmoil, Ohio State is No. 16 and Michigan State is right behind it at No. 17.

Iowa, Northwestern and Michigan also recieved votes but did not make the Top 25.

Penn State plays four ranked opponents in Alabama, Nebraska, Ohio State and Wisconsin. If you factor in the Hawkeyes and the Wildcats, the Nittany Lions play six teams voted among the nation's 31 best.
