Penn State players sound off on loss

Penn State players sound off on loss

It's three hours after Sam Ficken missed a 42-yard field goal to give Virginia a 17-16 win against Penn State, and Scott Stadium is empty.

The Virginia players and fans have left to, presumably, celebrate. Meanwhile the Nittany Lions are heading back to State College. Penn State is 0-2 for the first time since 2001.

But between the final whistle and now, some Penn State current, former and future players have taken to everyone's favorite medium -- Twitter, of course -- to express their emotions. Here's a sampling of what they had to say:

Freshman running back Akeel Lynch (@ALynch_22): Tough loss today. We will learn from our mistakes today, correct them during this week of practice and get ready for Navy. #WeStillAre

Former defensive back Adam Taliaferro, now a Penn State trustee (@Tali43): I know most people who follow me are upset about PSU loss-i just ask that you please pray 4 the player from Tulane who broke his neck today

Former center A.Q. Shipley, now with the Colts (@aqshipley): Just landed in chicago only 2 hear about missed opportunities in the psu game! What a shame! Those missed opps will turn around! #fighton

Penn State verbal recruit, tight end Adam Breneman, who was at the game (@AdamBreneman87): For all you classless fans tweeting at @sficken1 for missing field goals, I'd like to see you go out there and make those kicks. Grow up.

Tight end Gary Gilliam (@GaryGilliam89): Back to work! Thank you for all the support ... Stay with us, we need you psu nation... We Will Rise!

Former Penn State quarterback Michael Robinson, now with the Seahawks (@RealMikeRob): It's okay to be disappointed thats inevitable. Don't B discouraged that's a choice. Keep believing. #PSUFootball #WeAre

Former Penn State quarterback Daryll Clark (@CaptainClark17): I am just... Floored
