Penn State players hail from Philadelphia and surrounding areas

Any time Penn State visits Temple, it's more just another road game for many of the Nittany Lions. On this year's team, 19 Penn State players are from the Metropolitan Philadelphia area.

Sophomore wide receiver Curtis Drake (West Catholic), junior wide receiver Andrew Goodman (George Washington) and true freshman defensive end Deion Barnes (Northeast) come from the City of Brotherly Live.

Back-up left guard Mark Arcidiacono (St. Joe's Prep) is a native of Holland. Defensive end Pete Massaro (Marple Newtown), who will miss this season with a torn ACL, is from Newtown Square. True freshman defensive end Shawn Oakman (Penn Wood) hails from Landsdowne.

Then there are seven Nittany Lions from nearby New Jersey: Anthony Alosi (Marlton), freshman wide receiver Bill Belton (Sicklerville), sophomore linebacker Glenn Carson (Manahawkin), senior defensive end Jack Crawford (Longport), junior linebacker Gerald Hodges (Paulsboro), sophomore wide receiver Shawney Kersey (Woodbury) and senior guard Johnnie Troutman (Brown Mills).

Junior wide receiver Justin Brown, senior defensive tackle Devon Still and senior tight end Andrew Szczerba are from Wilmington, Del. True freshman tight end Kyle Carter is from Bear, Del., while senior defensive end Eric Latimore is from Middletown, Del and junior defensive tackle James Terry is from New Castle, Del.

"I know a lot of guys are excited to play in Philly," Szczerba said. "A couple of guys that are here have played there already and said (Lincoln Financial Field) is a really nice stadium. So I think a lot of the younger guys are excited to experience that."
