Penn State drops out of AP rankings

After its 27-11 home loss to Alabama, Penn State has dropped out of the AP Top 25. The Nittany Lions, who checked in at No. 23 last week, received the eighth-most votes of team's left unranked.

Oklahoma remained No. 1, while Alabama jumped one spot to No. 2. LSU, Boise State and Florida State rounded out the top five in the rankings that were released Sunday.

At No. 7, Wisconsin is the highest ranked Big Ten team. Nebraska is ranked tenth, Michigan State is No. 15 and Ohio State is No. 17.

Penn State plays Temple on Saturday at Lincoln Financial Field.
