Penn State ranked No. 16 in AP poll

The Nittany Lions (8-1, 5-0 Big Ten) checked in at No. 16, five spots higher than last week, in the AP poll that was released Sunday.

The Nittany Lions (8-1, 5-0 Big Ten) checked in at No. 16, five spots higher than last week, in the AP poll that was released Sunday. They beat Illinois 10-7 on Saturday and are the lone team undefeated in Big Ten play.

Four other Big Ten teams are ranked in the AP Top 25: Nebraska (No. 9), Michigan (No. 13), Michigan State (No. 15) and Wisconsin (No. 19). 

The BCS standings will be released Sunday night. Penn State was No. 19 in last week's standings.
