Penn State guard D.J. Newbill injured his left shoulder at practice on Wednesday and will be out 3-4 weeks, team spokesman Brian Siegrist confirmed Thursday. Newbill was seen outside the Bryce Jordan Center on Thursday with his left arm in a sling.

Newbill, a recent transfer from Southern Mississippi, isn’t eligible to play this season anyway because of NCAA transfer rules. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound sophomore from Philadelphia (Strawberry Mansion High School) will have three years of eligibility left starting in the 2012-13 season.
