O'Brien, Penn State coaches caravan, to stop in Philadelphia

POSTED: Tuesday, March 5, 2013, 5:34 PM

Bill O’Brien will take to the road for the second straight year when the Penn State Coaches Caravan embarks on a two-week tour to 12 cities beginning April 30.

Philadelphia is scheduled to be the second stop on the first day of the caravan. The location and registration process for that event and for the other cities are still to be announced.

The caravan will visit nine Pennsylvania cities along with Baltimore, Washington and New York. At each stop, O’Brien, who led the Nittany Lions to an 8-4 record last fall in his first season as head football coach, will be accompanied by at least one other head coach of a Penn State athletic program.

In a statement, O’Brien said he appreciated the turnout for last year’s caravan and that he “enjoyed meeting so many people who have great pride and passion for Penn State.

“It’s important for me to get around Pennsylvania and other areas where we have a lot of alumni and give them a chance to get to know me and to hear from them,” he said. “They need to hear about my philosophy and vision for the future and how we are moving forward.”

The caravan is jointly sponsored by the Penn State Alumni Association and the Nittany Lion Club. Registration for members of those organizations opens March 12, three days before the public will be able to register.

The caravan stops include:

April 30: Reading, Pa. (lunch) and Philadelphia (evening reception).

May 1: Baltimore (lunch) and Washington (evening reception).

May 2: Lancaster, Pa. (lunch) and Harrisburg (evening reception).

May 7: Williamsport, Pa. (lunch) and Allentown (evening reception).

May 8: New York (lunch) and Scranton, Pa. (evening event).

May 9: DuBois, Pa. (lunch) and Pittsburgh (evening reception).

Someone be sure to ask him about the decrease in access to physicians by football players. I'm sure the recruit parents will be interested in that. Info here, OB specific on the third page: http://bwi.rivals.com/showmsg.asp?fid=36&tid=162740785&mid=162740785&sid=890&style=2

Yeah, this was a weird move. After reading that board, it seems like Joyner is the problem here, with BOB not really that engaged in the situation.

verve, stop excusing OB; he has stated numerous times he wants an NFL training room. OB is definitely behind this and totally on board.

I was just going off of what PSU_fan's source was talking about. If he's pulling back on quick and quality care, then that is a bad thing.
