Notes from Penn State's Friday practice

DALLAS --- On Friday morning, the first portion of Penn State's practice at Bishop Lynch High School - mostly jus stretching and individual drills - was open to the media.

Quarterback Matt McGloin was in uniform with pads and stretched with the rest of the Nittany Lions. The redshirt junior from Scranton also threw passes to a team manager in individual drills with the rest of the quarterbacks.

It is unclear if McGloin, who had not practiced (concussion) since the locker room scuffle with wide receiver Curtis Drake on Dec. 17, participated in 11-on-11 drills on Friday. That portion of practice was not open to the media.

Interim coach Tom Bradley said Friday morning in an interview on ESPN that McGloin's status remained day-to-day and the team was preparing as if sophomore Rob Bolden was going to start.

Defensive tackle Devon Still was in uniform but was not wearing pads. The senior from Wilmington, Del. stood to the side of the field as the rest of the team warmed up and stretched. According to a team spokesman, Still was being held out with turf toe but is expected to be all right for Monday's TicketCity Bowl against Houston.
