Green back with Penn State?

POSTED: Friday, August 26, 2011, 11:41 AM

After not being with the team for undisclosed reasons, running back Stephfon Green might be back with the Nittany Lions. Green tweeted from his personal account (@sgreezy21) late Thursday night: “Just glad everything worked out and im back with my team!!.” Wide receiver Derek Moye (@dmoye6) retweeted Green’s post and added, “You and everyone on the squad.”

Lions247.com reported early Friday morning that Green has been reinstated by coach Joe Paterno, but Penn State has yet to comment. The fifth-year senior is still not listed on Penn State’s roster.

Just 10 days ago at Penn State’s media day, Paterno said he doubted Green would be back with the team.

“Stephfon has had some problems with me and right now I think for the benefit and especially the good of the football team, it might be better if he backs away right now,” Paterno said on Aug. 16.

The 5-foot-10, 198 pound back has 1,085 career rushing yards over his three years at Penn State and had been battling for the starting job with sophomore Silas Redd. If Green is back with the team, it remains to be seen what role he will play. Once a player is in Paterno’s infamous doghouse, it’s not easy to get out.
