Bill O'Brien: 80-100 prospects at Penn State-Ohio State game next week

Here are a few other notes from O'Brien's weekly radio show:

A fan asked Bill O'Brien what four-star verbal commit Adam Breneman has meant to Penn State's recruiting class. O'Brien -- well versed in NCAA's rule book -- didn't take the bait. He can't comment on individual high school players until they actually sign with the Nittany Lions.

But O'Brien did open up about something else: recruiting has been going well. Really well.

According to O'Brien, there will be between 80 and 100 high school prospects at Beaver Stadium next week when Penn State hosts undefeated Ohio State.

Here are a few other notes from O'Brien's weekly radio show:

-O'Brien confirms that left tackle Donovan Smith has been playing with a broken right hand. The redshirt freshman wore a cast during the Northwestern game. Smith is expected to play this week.

-One fan asked O'Brien if, given everything that happened in the offseason, Illinois would be Penn State's next big rival. Illinois coach Tim Beckman was the only Big Ten coach to actively pursue Penn State players after the NCAA sanctions were announced. O'Brien didn't take the bate on the question. "We want to beat everyone," the coach said.

-O'Brien wouldn't say exactly how much of the playbook Penn State has shown so far. He did give a little new information about the playbook, though. It includes contributions from many people, including Charlie Weis, Tom Brady and Bill Belichick.

-O'Brien reiterated that there would be no discipline for running back Curtis Dukes. The redshirt junior made comments to his hometown newspaper about wanting more playing time. "It's a free country," O'Brien said, adding Dukes needs to prove his case on the practice field.

-O'Brien does not plan on implementing a mandatory nap time, similar to what Pat Fitzgerald has done at Northwestern. "Uh, no," O'Brien said, laughing. "To me, you get a good night's sleep.. that's enough." The 8 p.m. start against Iowa marks Penn State's first night game this season.
