Big Ten Network recognizes Mrs. JoePa
At least we know there’s one bit of news Penn State coach Joe Paterno will enjoy this weekend. His wife, Sue, will be recognized on the Big Ten Network this weekend for more than 20 years of service with Special Olympics Pennsylvania. The network will feature her on its Give Big segment on Big Ten Tailgate.
On Saturday, her husband will attempt to erase memories of last week’s setback to Iowa when Penn State (3-2, 0-1 Big Ten) entertains Illinois (2-2, 0-1) in a conference home opener.
Sue Paterno started working with Special Olympians in 1989. One of her many efforts was keeping the Special Olympics Pennsylvania Summer Games in State College for the past 23 years. Two years ago, the Paternos were inducted into the Special Olympics Pennsylvania Hall of Fame.
The Big Ten Tailgate, which originates from Penn State this weekend, debuts 11 p.m. Friday. The one-long program will re-air Saturday at 12:30 a.m., 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. Saturday.
