A prayer for a team

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Yesterday's game will go down in the annals of Penn State football history, but for all the wrong reasons. The Lions once again failed to get to 10-0, and thus, their national title hopes vanished. Iowa spoiled the story, scoring a stunning upset, 24-23, on a last-second field goal. Penn State simply did not play well and there was plenty of blame to go around -- offense, defense, special teams, coaching, etc. Quarterback Daryll Clark was especially hard on himself after the game. He didn't have a great game, but he could hardly take the full brunt of blame.

If this is indeed Joe Paterno's last season, his chances for another national title have all but gone up in smoke. After the game, no one from Penn State appeared to be wallowing in Joe's misery, including himself.
