McQueary's emotions shaken "like a snow globe"
In a very brief interview with Armen Keteyian of CBS, Penn State wide receivers coach Mike McQueary said his emotions are shaken “like a snow globe.”
When asked if he had any idea when he would speak publicly about the scandal that has rocked Penn State, McQueary said, “This process has to play out. I just don’t have anything else to say.”
McQueary, who is on paid administrative leave after Penn State said he received multiple threats, went on to say his emotions are “all over the place. Just kinda shaken.”
The interview aired Tuesday evening on the "CBS Evening News." Keteyian said during the report that McQueary told him off-camera that he was concerned about his personal life, his personal safety and his future in coaching.
“I think the word shattered or shaken really operates here because Mike is just in a state where he really doesn’t know, it appears, which way to turn,” Keteyian said.
McQueary was the graduate assistant who, in 2002, allegedly witnessed former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky sexually abusing a young boy in the showers of the Lasch Football Building, according to the 23-page grand jury presentment. Sandusky denied the allegations in an interview with NBC's Bob Costas on Monday night.
Many have criticized McQueary for reportedly not taking further action back in 2002 other than simply alerting then-head coach Joe Paterno of the alleged acts. However, in an email to a former classmate obtained Tuesday by the Allentown Morning Call, McQueary said he stopped the alleged assault and alerted the police.
“I did stop it, not physically, but made sure it was stopped when I left that locker room,” McQueary wrote in the email, according to the Morning Call.

McQueary just doesn't get it. Stopping the act is NOT the same as stopping the behavior...which he should have done by reporting the alleged crime to the police. dri_as_a_bone- Surely you would have done the right thing and surely you do do the right thing 100% of the time. Get off your high horse! You holier than thou people are pathetic. McQueary (and Paterno) did do the right thing. If you are going to go after the guilty parties, Sandusky is the habitual pedophile ... the worst kind and there is also the unusual case of the DA who decided not to press charges against the habitual pedophile, when he had an interview supported by the testimony of 2 officers that Sandusky related that he wished he were dead for his actions after groping a child in the shower. An innocent man would never say that. Only the guilty admit guilt! Suffice to say, something stinks with regard to the DA not pressing charges.

If McQueary did actually stop it and told the police, I wonder if those details will change the lynch mob's mentality regarding JoePa. Probably not. Penfold18- Where are the cops that were told? pigday31
Hey folks I've got stories of abused kids by the bushel. Anybody care about what happens everyday in a juvenile court. There are no celebrities here, but you might learn something. Oh, I see, you really don't want to learn anything, just fan the flames for gossip sake. Shameless. retzlaff- Shameless with a question mark.
retzlaff - Retzlaff - What celebrities? What on earth are you talking about? Joe Pa? An NCAA football coach? Yeah, he always has reminded me of Harrison Ford...This is getting so much attention because it isn't that there was a boy abused, like you see every day in juvenile court - It was a cover up that may have reached as far as the DA and throughout one of the most popular and biggest money making universities in the country and it went on for DECADES and involved MANY boys. That is why everyone is talking about it, you mo.

Wow, McCreary worried about nothing but his own personal welfare. What a shame. jpgulli
I cannot understand how Paterno is praised for being such a wonderful mentor yet his 6'5" ex quarterback walks away from a child being raped by an old man. What in the name of God kind of person is Paterno. His legacy is gone forever and the name Paterno will be remembered along with Lee Harvey and JW Booth. uvmcat
Sounds like McQueary is changing his story to put himself in a better light. surely he would have been very clear speaking under oath before the GJ. Another betrayal of the kids. edward44
All, I admit that I am a PSU grad and my four years at State College were some of my best. I was very shaken by the disclosures that came out last year and I agree that Paterno needs to step up to the plate and explain why Sandusky remained at PSU after the 1998 matter. However, we are all basing our opinion on the Grand Jury Presentment which may be faulty. Let me explain:
1) The Presentment is drafted by the prosecutor and they have a free hand on the contents. It is expected to be slanted in their favor.
2) Most Presentments do not reveal names and are referenced as either witness # or titles. Refer to this presentment and you will see Paterno's name as often as Sandusky. Also, McQuery may have broken up the rape and reported it to the police and this omission may not be included in the final presentment.
3) The person that drafted this presentment (Corbet)and handed off to his successor for release has an open and bitter relationship with the former President of the University.
4) Once Corbet became governor, he became part of the Board of Trustees and should have prepared the University for the presentment release and prepared the school for an exit policy. He dis not and waited for the heads of the school to swing in the air before he came to the meeting on Wednesday and fired Paterno and the President.
I think that we all should wait until more information comes out before we hammer people based on the presentment language.

Paul M. I would agree with your argument if there was only 1 or 2 incidents. But 8 with 10 more reportedly added to the list. If you had a child you would understand how outraged one can be not only at Sandusky but the entire school administration. I have seen it before, schools close ranks when someone challenges them . Once again its the cover up,not the crime that destroys the institution. Open your eyes. uvmcat
