Locals to compete in Puerto Rico

Some people have all the luck. Here I am dying to go on vacation and Swenson’s Shanae Bailey, Seneca’s Michelle Brown and Methacton’s Carlton Lavong have expense-paid trips to Carolina, Puerto Rico. The three juniors were selected to the National Scholastic Sports Foundation team that will compete in Saturday’s Caribbean Scholastic Track and Field Invitational. The trio flys to Puerto Rico tomorrow. The 28-member squad will compete against teams from Puerto Rico, the United States Virgin Islands, the British Virgin Islands, Martinique and Guadalupe. Bailey is recognized as one of Pennsylvania’s premier girls’ sprinters. Brown is one of the nation’s top girls’ quarter-milers. And Lavong is one of the nation’s best boys’ long and triple jumpers.
