It's generally a given that the top two girls' basketball players in South Jersey are Eastern 6-foot-1 junior Genevieve Okoro and Lenape's 5-9 junior Christina Foggie, who is currently sidelined with a shoulder injury.
So who's No. 3?
One candidate could be Stefanie Bingham Willingboro's 5-foot-9 senior. At the very least, she is among the most improved. Bingham has increased her scoring average 10 points from last year, averaging just under 22 a game.
She is not a selfish player and has scored more early in the season as her teammates gained some experience. Bingham is physically strong and can create her shot off the dribble. And she has a killer pull-up jump shot, especially 16-feet and in.
A top student, Bingham hasn't made a college commitment and coach Guy Fowler says she is getting more and more attention.
We got our first look at her in tonight's 53-42 win over previously unbeaten Rancocas Valley. It was hard not to be impressed by Bingham's all-around game. She appears as if she could be an effective combination guard in college.
At least for the first month of the season she has played at an all-South Jersey level, just below the aforementioned highly touted juniors.
