I got chuckle out of Paul Morina's story today about how he and his brother idolized Gene Barber so much when they were young wrestlers that they used to say that Barber was their cousin.

Morina presented Barber, coach of the Absegami Braves, a plaque for achieving his 500th victory on Jan. 20 in a 44-12 win over Oakcrest. Then host Paulsboro beat Absegami, 36-30.

Not long after Barber accepted the award and hugs from Morina and former wrestlers who had competed against the legendary coach, a woman yelled: "Gino Barbera."

Now that sounds like a cousin.
