The Carpenter Cup softball tournament was supposed to end on June 25. However, excessive rain and a sponge-like field at FDR Park pushed the final to June 30.

Which interfered with the plans of at least one head coach, who had to leave for a scheduled vacation and pass the reins to an assistant.

That assistant, Ryan Pickett, led Delaware South to the championship.
