Eustace-Cherokee Now Saturday

The frequently postponed Grand Slam Baseball Classic again gave way on Wednesday to the inclement weather.

Now the anticipated second-round matchup between Bishop Eustace and Cherokee will be played on Saturday.

Cherokee will host the game at 10 a.m. The loser then meets Gloucester Catholic (which lost in its opener to Eustace, 7-1 of this double-elimination tournament.

Eustace is ranked No. 1 in South Jersey by The Inquirer, while Cherokee is No. 7.

It could be a busy few days for Eustace, which meets Riverside in Friday's 11 a.m. opening of the Ralph Shaw Tournament at Audubon.

If Eustace wins, it would face the winner of the Friday's second game between Audubon and Camden Catholic in Saturday's 3 p.m. championship at Audubon.

So Eustace may have a morning game at Cherokee and an afternoon game at Auubon. If Eustace losses to Cherokee, the Crusaders would have to then play Gloucester Cathoic before going to Audubon.

That's a lot of baeball but Eustace is 3-0 and like many teams, is starved to play some games.
