Cherokee Keeps Rolling With Win over Spirit

Cherokee's boys' basketball team continues to gear up for the Group 4 playoffs and the Chiefs could be the team to beat.

With Sunday's 54-53 win over The Inquirer's No. 1 South Jersey team Holy Spirit, Cherokee continued its impressive late-season run.

That was the Chiefs' 11th win in a row. Cherokee is also 8-0 with the addition of point guard Willis Nicholson, a transfer from Philadelphia who became eligible on Feb. 1.

Of course there will be plenty of cometion in Group 4, with the likes of Lenape, Eastern, defending state champion Rancocas Valley and defending South Jersey champ Atlantic City all appearing to be viable contenders.

Still, every team wants to play its best as the tournament begins and when Group 4 starts next week, it's hard to think of another team that is entering the postseaosn on a better roll than Cherokee.
