Vince Young impersonator prowling DC
Jonathan Tamari
A man in the Washington-area has been pretending to be Vince Young, taking money from some victims and posing for pictures with children in hospitals, according to the Eagles quarterback and his representatives.
One woman was conned into writing a $12,000 check that she thought was going to Young's charitable foundation, said Denise White, CEO of EAG Sports Management, Young's management company.
"Vince doesn’t want anybody to be hurt by this guy," White said. She identified the man as Stephan Pittman.
“To the my fans and the media, please be aware that there is man in the DC area that has been impersonating me. He is a career criminal,” Young wrote on Twitter Monday night.
In a video statement posted by NBC's Washington affiliate, Young warns:
"Keep watch out for this guy because he’s not me. He's out there perpetrating as me, he’s taking money, taking pictures with kids in hospitals."
Young later adds, "It's been real sick so hopefully DC police officers and everybody, as well as NFL security, will try to bring down this perpetrator because he’s trying to ruin my name."
Young filed a complaint about the impersonation in Houston in June, White said. Some victims have also filed complaints in other states, but White said nothing formal has yet been filed in Prince George's County, Maryland, where Pittman lives.
Young has been working with both NFLPA and NFL security, White said.
