Vick still the starter; McGlynn takes blame
Jeff McLane, Inquirer Staff Writer
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Asked who his starting quarterback was heading into the bye, Eagles coach Andy Reid answered simply with, "Michael."
That's Michael Vick, in case you need reminding.
Reid had said coming into the game that Vick was his starter, so sticking with Vick over Kevin Kolb wasn't necessarily a surprise. But the coach did leave himself a little wiggle room to make a change last week, perhaps in case Kolb performed brilliantly against the Titans Sunday.
He did not. The Eagles lost, 37-19, and while the loss cannot be pinned solely on Kolb, he did struggle. His final numbers: 26 of 48 for 231 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.
Vick, the emergency third quarterback, said after the game that he was still not 100 percent recovered from his rib injury. So there's still the chance Kolb could get the call against the Colts on Nov. 7. But all signs point to Vick being ready in two weeks.
As for the game, center Mike McGlynn took sole responsibility for missing the block on Jason Jones that led to the game-turning fumble in the third quarter. The Eagles had first and goal on the three-yard line when Jones broke through and knocked the ball from Kolb's hand before he handed off to LeSean McCoy.
"I caused the fumble, basically," McGlynn said. "In that situation, that can't happen."
A touchdown there would have out the Eagles up, 23-7. Instead, the Titans drove for a field goal and from that point forward outscored the Eagles, 30-3.
Kevin Kolb became the first QB in NFL history to follow up good performance with a bad one. I hope sometime within the next two weeks Reid slips up and explains that Vick is starting because 'a QB doesn't lose his job because of an injury' and the media commence saturation bombing on his lard behind. It is almost a good thing Kolb isn't starting because if he was, Reid would have put Vick in under center every three plays as to disrupt any momentum Kolb has. Vick will be hurt in a few weeks anyways, and the idiots (elijah, hoodlum, et al) who say this loss was solely on Kolb obviously were blind to the Izel Jenkins impersonation that Ellis Hobbs pulled today. Some of you folks need to get real, Reid made it more than clear when Vick was injured that he (Vick) would be the starter after he healed, he never once said anything about a competition or controversy, the only ones who referred to this situation as being a competition or controversy has been the media and Kolb fans period. charmaine
48 passes; 21 runs

Kolb stuggled and the defense fell apart. What was with that fumble at the goal line? I doubt Vick can defeat Indianapolis by himself like he did to Detroit. I hope our defense shows up. Chemistryrocks
clock struck midnight for kolberalla..he showed true form today..now go back to bench where you belong..2012 - kevin "pick 6" KOLB and wolf..walmart security..wolf. wolf 4- What would your dog say?
Comment removed.
Reid is a worse football coach than father and his sons shoved pills up their @$$ to get them into jail. Thats how bad of a coach he is. firefatandy
This will get fun once Vick reverts to form and starts getting picked off/fumbling 3 times a game. JonKap
There will come a time when you can still take all your clothes off when you dance, wah, wah, wah, wah, wah. raymonddouglas
Vick would have converted on a couple of those 3 in outs. Thats what really killed the defense. The O could not stay on the field. Murrayag11
vick will beat the colts. they are not the same team as in past and dallas clark out for year....wolf. wolf 4

Good grief, another Wolf prediction. STFU, Wolf. You don't have a clue. birdseed
Man, some of these comments are pretty funny. I would ask anyone complaining or deflecting blame to remember this was a TEAM effort. The QB is responsible for making good decisions after the getting the ball back after the Titans score. The problem was that unlike Atlanta last week Tennessee pressured the QB and took away those 2yd passes. The QB needed to make the adjustment (audible) as the game went along but Kolb did not which is what made Vick so valuable. Now it was Reid's fault for not getting into the defensive coordinators grill for not adjusting to how Britt was playing in the game. Don't balme Vick cause Kolb played his way back to the bench cause if Kolb had played well I do believe Reid would have left him in as the starter! cedrickc
