Vick still the starter; McGlynn takes blame
Jeff McLane, Inquirer Staff Writer
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Asked who his starting quarterback was heading into the bye, Eagles coach Andy Reid answered simply with, "Michael."
That's Michael Vick, in case you need reminding.
Reid had said coming into the game that Vick was his starter, so sticking with Vick over Kevin Kolb wasn't necessarily a surprise. But the coach did leave himself a little wiggle room to make a change last week, perhaps in case Kolb performed brilliantly against the Titans Sunday.
He did not. The Eagles lost, 37-19, and while the loss cannot be pinned solely on Kolb, he did struggle. His final numbers: 26 of 48 for 231 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.
Vick, the emergency third quarterback, said after the game that he was still not 100 percent recovered from his rib injury. So there's still the chance Kolb could get the call against the Colts on Nov. 7. But all signs point to Vick being ready in two weeks.
As for the game, center Mike McGlynn took sole responsibility for missing the block on Jason Jones that led to the game-turning fumble in the third quarter. The Eagles had first and goal on the three-yard line when Jones broke through and knocked the ball from Kolb's hand before he handed off to LeSean McCoy.
"I caused the fumble, basically," McGlynn said. "In that situation, that can't happen."
A touchdown there would have out the Eagles up, 23-7. Instead, the Titans drove for a field goal and from that point forward outscored the Eagles, 30-3.
- LMAO....look how the Caucasians are trashing Vick...and myself...and he didn't even play. The bottom line is, Reid said all along that Vick was the starter, but the Caucasians/Vick haters kept up the Klob BS. Vick is the the starter. Put that in your pipes and smoke it, LOL

Elijah29, man u sum it up best. U can't tell me these people don't just hate vick for obvious reasons when he being kicked under the bus and he hasn't even had a bad series in a game. Kk has stunk it up plenty of times and they still defend him now watch when vick has a slump watch how hard they will be on him? Man I got so much faith in vick I feel like the eagles can win the sb if he stays healthy shaad
Elijah29, I think you speak the truth ! RicWilliams
For all the Kolbolites - This lost was a team effort no doubt, and no one expected that Kolb could defend against the 27 points that the Titans scored in the last quarter; but you would think that maybe, just maybe being the "extremely accurate, precise, freakishly intelligent, made for the west coast offense QB that he is", he could have a least answered with a score of his own. RicWilliams- I distinctly remember everyone on these boards laughing when the Eagles said this was not a rebuilding year. IF you were so sure they were rebuilding how can you be upset with how the season has gone so far? Things have pretty much gone how I would have expected them to go.
:) this team is a joke :),,,,,,,,anybody who thinks vick can make that defence play better you are nuts,,,, i was ready for the future when kolb was getting his chance,,,now we are playing like the past,,,, nothin has changed,,,, i dont waste my sundays anymore wacthin the stinking birds,,,, i find im in a much better mood come mondays,,,i just wacth the low-lights on football frenzy.... woooo whooo !! jackhanna- Kolb...get your hands ready for that clipboard elijah29
- Kolb is going to be a pro bowl hand signaler elijah29
The Eagles lost this game because of a number of reasons. 1. Kolb showed he has a very weak arm and under threw atleast 4 open Wide outs. 2. McGlynn unable to read presnap reads and unable to block period. 3. The Eagles did not put their best corner on the opposing teams best receiver. reggleston38
To quote the great Herm Edwards "they are who we thought they were". This team was not going to be good this year, period. They will not be able to beat the class of the AFC, and that includes the Colts next week. The rest of our sched is brutal... 8-8 if we are lucky. iamkingdunlap

rich, great article,,this was a tale of two games,,KK was moving the ball well the first three QTRS including a last minute first half drive to get a field goal,,the two fumbles(by mccoy and punt returner) turned the game around,,and border line HOFer kerry collins (just short of 40K yards-200 TDS-career)torched the defense in the second half to put the game away (JJohnson was sorely missed yesterday)..though the birds loss KK continued to show progress under a severe pass rush,,conVick would not have had much luck with that defense either.....but the phillies loss to the giants and the 25mil man Ryan Howard standing at the plate with his bat on his shoulders looking a called third strike brought back visions of the birds and tampa bay and carolina NFC championship missed golden chances to get to the big show...to the phony/fraud wolfs(ppizza-birdsh**-will69-49cent-cyo-elishea))get your bat off your shoulders and get a Life.LOL..............wolf. wolf 4
you know you are a hater, when you read any of these articles and are already on the defense of Kevin. Same goes for Vicks fans as well. Kevin choked yesterday, after that fumble i am not sure what coach said...but the results speak for themselves. As to Vick being himself, i think they let him play like he does, because its part of teh deal... jameslaka
GREAT choice Vick is the man live with it fans. Jayjayhithard
