Vick: reaction to McNabb should be positive

POSTED: Tuesday, September 28, 2010, 2:18 PM

Michael Vick got a raucous ovation at Imhotep Charter School as he spoke to the students about the dangers of, as he put it, losing focus on his life long goals and the legacy he hopes to leave for himself. Afterward, he said he hopes Donovan McNabb gets a "positive" reaction from fans Sunday.

Vick was speaking at the West Oak Lane school as part of his agreement with the Humane Society of the United States to take part in presentations meant to discourage dog fighting. Standing in front of an "End Dogfighting" banner, he urged the high school students to stay focused on their goals and not stray into destructive behavior. A recap of the event is here.

After speaking, Vick talked to reporters mostly about his work with the Humane Society, but was also asked about how fans might react to McNabb.

"Don gave a lot to the city of Philadelphia, he dedicated himself, not only on the field, but out in the community. It was known and I think everybody is conscious of that and I think it should be a positive reaction. It will be a positive reaction," Vick said.

The game might be a highlight of the schedule for fans, but Vick said he is treating it like any other.

"For me it's just another game, and I’m pretty sure Donovan feels the same way," he said. "We both know what’s at stake, and ultimately at the end of the day you want to win a game. The hype of me playing against him is not going to change anything. It's not going to help us out there on the field."

"McNabb should get boo'd! He has been over rated his entire career & is the biggest drama Queen ever! " Greatest QB in Eagles history and this is how he is thought of. Eagles' fans are the most classless in the NFL. By far.

me, i'm personally gonna cheer foe d-mac.he done what he could, and worked with what he had.when jaworski lost the superbowl, the haters showed him just how much he was loved here.didn't change, bit he's still loved here. d-mac lost, and the haters still showed just how much they hated him.either way,the eagles lost 2 super bowls, that is history.both of these qb's deserve respect, not the treatment given by the hater fans of this city.whatever happens,at the end of the day, someone will win,and lose, and the game moves on.d-mac left his stamp on this team,haters..and u cannot change that.but to the eagles qb's.........the fans here are (not all, just the negative fans)gonna hate u when u lose.thats a fact.kolb..are u listening??see how these front runners cheering mike?? lets see how he's received, after a loss.just remember that guys..ask donovan...

Philadelphians paid Donovan's multimillion dollar salaries by paying admission to the games in which he performed, or being brain washed by viewing tv commercials of Howie Long pushing Chevy trucks, some dude trying to talk himself into talking to his doctor about his erectile dysfunction, or a bunch of seniors running to the bathroom every ten minutes. Who owes anybody anything here? I'd have to think that Donny got a pretty good deal. If you like him, cheer, or not, boo, or neither of the above.

The only head coach that I liked that the Eagles had was Buddy Ryan. The last Eagle QB that I didn't dislike was Jeff Garcia, and before that it was Roman Gabriel.

eaglephanatic: "McNabb will be booed because he is a despicable man."
That is stupid even for the comments section of an Eagles article, which is really saying some thing. He always gave effort, did his homework, showed class. Only a totally classless jerk would boo, so probably 30% of the Linc.

The stadium should rise and give McNabb an ongoing ovation that lasts as long as his first series. That would be a moment to remember and a showing of ultra-class from Philly. The guy stayed in a game with a broken ankle and threw 4 TDs.

I've now heard it all. McNabb = Arrogant and Disrespectful. Iverson = Classy. TruePhillyFan...you are a complete idiot. I've never been a McNabb fan, but to label him as arrogant and disrespectful is nothing further from the truth. And Iverson as classy? Jesus Christ...I'm a born and bred Philadelphian, but can we please get some of these morons out of here? Gives the city a terrible name from a national perspective.
