If you finished watching all of the preseason and aren't entirely sure what kind of role Michael Vick will have in the Eagles offense, you aren't the only one.

"I don't know exactly what it's going to be," Vick said Thursday night, following the Eagles' 21-17 loss to the New York Jets. "I'm just as curious as you. So we'll find out when it happens."

There weren't any "Wild Vick" plays against the Jets because coach Andy Reid rested his starters including quarterback Kevin Kolb. That meant Vick got the start. Reid said two days ago that Vick would play a half. He ended up only playing two series and one quarter.

And why was that?

"Because I wanted to," Reid said to some amusement. "I think he's had enough work. The guy's 30-years old and he's been in this league a long time. I think he's ready to go."

Vick didn't mind.

"I didn't ask to come out, but it's the preseason," Vick said. "Who wants to be out there playing in the preseason?"

Vick was his usual inconsistent self. He completed 3 of 5 passes for 56 yards without a touchdown or interception. He connected with receiver Riley Cooper for a beauty of a 27-yard pass. But he threw behind his favorite target later on. Vick also ran two times for 11 yards. He finished the preseason as the Eagles' leading rusher with 100 yards on 12 carries.

"I felt like I got done what I needed to get done," Vick said. "When I did play, I played with confidence, threw the ball strong. I was going to all the right places and I just let my vision work for me."

Vick said that he's confident he can step in for Kolb in case of injury.

"I'm the backup, that's the reason why I'm here," Vick said. "If something happens I feel that I can step in. I've played this game for a long time and I've started a lot of games in this league."

But he isn't starting. With the season opener against the Packers only ten days away, Reid wasn't interested in entertaining a reporter asking if he intended to reveal his plans for Vick.

"No, I don't," Reid said. "No, I really don't, not before out first game here."

Vicks role is to disrupt the flow of the offense 5 to 7 times per game. Same as last season.

Mike Vick is a backup QB. He gets to play in a mop-up role in blowout games one way or the other. Just like any backup QB's in this league, he is a non-factor. Is that what you want Reid to say?

Vick should have been converted into a wingback/slot player who could be on the field more often, thereby cloaking the times he would take snaps from center and be the wildcat. Vick's use has lacked all imagination, and you can't really blame him for that. I am Oppressed.

Vick's role is too pick up empty Gatorade cups on the sideline since his teammates have trouble picking things up like cups, wrappers, blocks etc....

Vicks sucks and always has. He is lucky that someone is willing to pay him to sit on the bench most of the time. he should keep his mouth shut!!!

"Vick was his usual inconsistent self". Is'nt it funny that both of the Eagles inconsistent qb's have led teams to NFC championship games while the starting Qb can't even throw a single td pass in 3 measley pre-season games and to date four years later still has more ints than td's!But come on guys don't pull the race card. Get out of here

Kolb looked shaky and so did the O-line this preseason. I really don't know what we have with him. I do know that Vick is not an NFL QB, and never has been. Was/always will be a gimmick hyped up by ESPN and Gatorade. Wunderlic didn't lie. The guy reads defenses like Dexter Manely reads the WSJ.

pista - then cheer for another team then since you hate Vick so much. Also, Vick will be starting at some point this year. Put that in your pipe and smoke it

The only thing Vick will be starting this year is his car.
