Vick NFC offensive player of the week

POSTED: Tuesday, November 16, 2010, 5:03 PM

Michael Vick was named NFC offensive player of the week for the second week in a row for his record-setting performance Monday night in the Eagles' 59-28 shellacking of the Redskins.

Vick became with first quarterback to win back-to-back player of the week honors since Randall Cunningham did so with the Vikings in 1998. He completed 20 of 28 passes for 333 yards and four touchdowns. Vick also ran eight times for 80 yards and two scores. He became the first player in NFL history with more than 300 yards passing, 50 yards rushing, four passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns in a game.

The NFL Hall of Fame requested Vick's jersey from the game and the Eagles will send it as soon as possible, according to a team spokesman.

Vick, the NFL leader in passing, has yet to throw an interception in 153 pass attempts this season.

He was also named NFC offensive player of the month for September.

No ints is impressive. Knock on wood for sure, and at some point, one is going to happen. But what about the kudos to the receivers (except Shelak, aka celek) for not having the tipped and dropped passes the other NFC east teams are dealing with. Jackson, Maclin, Avant and co. are plucking those balls out of the air, or their chest protector on some of those lasers, and finishing the greatness started by Vick.

Blueu, great point. Talent aside, is Avant one of the classiest, hardest-working guys in Philly sports right now?

Really with the Celek hating? Dude needs to block more because the O-Line is bad. They tried to get him involved last night and they will more into the season. He is another weapon in the arsenal of this team.

Wow, that is an impressive achievement and may be enough to bring this city once and for all behind Vick and his Eagles Team. If not....after last night’s performance, in prime time, his stock just skyrocketed and he will be welcomed in quite a few NFL cities.

I would not have believed it if someone would have told me. But it would be hard for Vick not to get it if get one more player of the week award. Besides there aren't any other standouts this season. Who would his competition be?

ej610, you have to remember every one of those actions was before his time in prison. He's a different guy, honestly, other than the B-day party incident.

I love how many perfect people there are in the world who have never sinned and come short. you must have been born from virgin mothers the way you scold people and hold grudges. especially in a city that averages 400 murders a year we are still trippin about him killing some dogs. be serious.

Yeah, I think Celek is a very cool player. He can really be an awesome weapon when they have him involved in attacks. He works very hard.
