Vick, McCoy stuck at Phase 4; Patterson has pneumonia

Michael Vick and LeSean McCoy still have not passed ImPACT testing and are in Phase 4 of the Eagles’ five-phase protocol for return from concussion, team trainer Rick Burkholder said.

Both players took ImPACT tests on Friday, but the team did not yet have results.

Vick will miss his fourth game when the Eagles travel to face the Buccaneers on Sunday. McCoy will be out for his third straight. Nick Foles and Bryce Brown will start once again for the injured quarterback and running back.

Vick hasn’t had symptoms for weeks, but he can’t reach baseline on his testing to move onto Phase 5, which would involve contact. The Eagles sent McCoy to Pittsburgh earlier this week for further evaluation. He still has symptoms after working out, Burkholder said.

“Both of those guys are doing activity at an extremely high level,” Burkholder said.

Despite the high level of activity, neither appears close to a return and won’t likely be ready for the Eagles’ next game on Thursday night against the Bengals.

Mike Patterson has what the Eagles believe to be viral pneumonia, Burkholder said. The Eagles defensive tackle complained of symptoms on Thursday morning and was later admitted into a hospital. Burkholder said that Patterson’s illness had nothing to do with his January surgery to have an AVM removed from his brain.

“He’s doing fine. He’s stable,” Burkholder said. “He’s there now. We’re waiting on testing and I think he’s going to be fine.”

Kurt Coleman hasn’t practice all week because of a chest bruise and will not travel to Tampa. Colt Anderson will fill in for Coleman at safety alongside Nate Allen.

Nate Menkin suffered a throat cartilage injury during Friday’s practice and will be listed as out for Sunday’s game. The offensive lineman has not dressed a game this season.

Running back Chris Polk (toe) was listed as questionable.

That is good news for Vick. Stay out from this Eagles' O.L. Vick needs to rest now, so he can have a good career next season.

Its almost comical...if the Eagles were fighting for a playoff birth they would have been cleared to play last week....Just come out and say we are sitting them for the rest of the year..in Vicks case he will be gone the end of the year so we want to see Foles....in McCoys case its just not worth risking him doing more damage in meaningless games..whats so hard about being honest and upfront??

@flyers, the league grades the impact tests, not the Eagles. They have no say in it. However, the player can (and maybe they are) skew the test by taking it slower than they did in their baseline. That way both guys have an excuse not to play for the rest of the year - McCoy will be healthy and good to go here next year, and Vick will still be the broken down inaccurate veteran playing who-knows where.

Likely landing spot for Vick next year is Kansas City or New York Jets.

Wouldn't it be a hoot if Vick went to Arizona and took Kolb's job again?

These QB's (Vick, Kolb, McNabb) are buds. Kolb's sternum was Severed / Dislocated from his rib cage and is desperately trying to rehab. Ariz O-line as injured as Phillys. These guys should wear body armour.

Carson Palmer will be 33 next year. The Raiders have him locked up (approx 13mill guaranteed 2013 and approx 12million guaranteed 2014)

I hope Palmer retires after another horrible season in Oakland and Vick goes to Oakland.

Never has one team and one player (Oakland and Vick) been a better match for each other.

Vick will be healthy for about 8 games and he can run in circles and pad stats and make MLBs miss him and go 4-4 and do nothing NOTHING for the Raiders and there will be 30,000 black Vick jerseys in the seats.

I agree. A head coaches job is to recognize talent and what will work for the upcoming season. I respect andy for what he did in the "PAST" but things have changed and after 4 recent seasons this team is getting WORSE. This is Andys last season as head coach. We need someone who will clean house completely. New O Coordinator, New WR coaches, New D Coordinator, New Talent Evaluators. I would keep Ted Williams because he is the only coach that understands when he has talent and how to bring out the best in players. EVERYONE ELSE MUST GO
