Vick proud of DeSean

POSTED: Friday, December 30, 2011, 2:23 PM

Mike Vick and DeSean Jackson exchanged a brief hand shake at the quarterback's locker Friday as Jackson left for the day. He may have completed his last practice as an Eagle, though Vick hopes to see the dynamic wide receiver again next season.

"We were just out at practice and you could just see the glow and the sparkle in his eyes now as far as him being out on the field with the guys, having fun, dominating," Vick said. "I’m just excitied and happy for DeSean for the way he’s handled himself and conducted himself throughout everything, so I think it'll all take care of itself."

Jackson, of course, has had a rocky season with the Eagles, getting benched during one game, and sat down entirely for another for missing a meeting. When coaches have been given a chance to laud him in recent days, they have praised his effort in recent weeks -- seeming to damn him with faint praise, since the "recent weeks" qualifier raises questions about what was going on before that.

Jackson declined to talk to reporters Friday, as he has often done since facing criticism for his effort against the Seahawks, a storyline fueled by the league's own NFL Network. Sunday's game and Monday's media session as players clean out their lockers may be his last public appearances as an Eagle. The team has a big decision to make on the two-time Pro Bowl receiver.

"I'm hoping, that’s all I can do," Vick said of his future with the receiver. "I don’t make any decisions, but hopefully everything will work itself out."

Samuel Out

Another Eagle who may have played his last game in Philadelphia is Asante Samuel, who missed another practice with his hamstring injury and has been declared out for Sunday's game. Many expect Samuel to be traded in the offseason to clear space at the jam-packed cornerback position.

LeSean McCoy is listed as questionable but coach Andy Reid said he expects the running back to play. McCoy needs 203 yards to break the team record for rushing yards in a single season.

"It's on my mind," he said. "A lot of things have to go right for me to get it, but I'm going to go out and play my heart out."

He added, "the main thing is winning and kind of go out on a good note. It would be even sweeter to get the record though."

Maybe Reid will pick up McNabb and try to rehab him next year. In response to the fellow who responded that D-Jax should have more maturity, consider that his job entails catching a slippery oblong object while 300 pound mean as mad dog linebackers try to take his head off. He does this repeatedly and has had his bell rung a few times. I don't think maturity or sanity is a prerequisite for THAT job.

Trade him to Arizona. Kolb knows how to treat Jackson and wants to score touchdowns, not run 12 yards for a first down and punch his chest like the Tin Man.

No one cares about a bunch of dead dogs, to bad you don't know of any other dogs that have been killed, I'm sure you don't care, just like you really dog care about the dogs you mentioned, just an excuse.

If no one in Philly supports the Eagles just move the team to LA. I hate haters! It is no wonder many great players would never play in Philadelphia just to see idiots that know nothing about NFL football post their hate on this web site. God willing, all pro sports teams will leave Philly and go where they'll be appreciated.
