Todd Bowles not yet thinking about Temple job, but voices 'love' for the Owls

Eagles defensive coordinator Todd Bowles said he has not thought about the Temple head coaching job, although he was not shy about voicing his "love" for his alma mater. After Steve Addazio bolted for Boston College earlier this week and Temple commencing a search for their third head coach in four seasons, a Temple alum with an impressive coaching resume would seem a logical candidate.

"Right now, I haven't even thought about it," Bowles said. "I love my school to death. I wear Temple sweatshirts every day. I got my job right here. I'm very happy with it."

Bowles' stock was much higher before the season. He went 2-1 as the interim head coach of the Miami Dolphins in 2011 and was interviewed for NFL head coaching jobs before the Eagles hired him to coach defensive backs. Bowles' hire was praised around the league and within the organization, and he was promoted to defensive coordinator after Juan Castillo was fired on Oct. 16.

Since then, the Eagles defense has gone into freefall. But Bowles' resume is still strong, with eight seasons as an NFL player and 13 as an NFL coach with five teams. He's worked under Bill Parcells, who is a big supporter of Bowles.

Bowles has not coached in college said he was Grambling State's defensive coordinator in 1999, but he remains a follower of college football and does not consider himself exclusively an NFL coach.

"I'm a football coach," Bowles said. "I like the college ranks, I like the pros. I love where I'm at right now, and I love coaching, and I'd love to continue."
