T.O.? THE ANSWER IS NO.

POSTED: Thursday, March 5, 2009, 1:50 PM

Sometimes you have to ask the question even when you know the answer. Otherwise, you've made an assumption and you know what they say about people who assume.

So the question was asked of the Eagles this morning: Safe to assume you guys have no interest in the recently released Terrell Owens?

"No interest," a team source revealed.

Shocking. A lot of people are now predicting that T.O. will end up in Oakland, following in the career-ending footsteps of his former teammate Jerry Rice. The only difference between Rice and T.O. are the Super Bowl rings and playoff wins.

Hard to believe that T.O. hasn't been on the field for a playoff victory since catching the game-winning pass from Steve Young in a 1999 game against Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers. The NFL Network broadcast that game last night and it was a lot of fun to watch for a number of reasons.

You saw a slimmed-down Andy Reid in his final season as the Packers' quarterbacks coach, Reggie White playing in his final game with the Packers and T.O. crying for the first time -- but not the last -- in his turbulent career.

CORRECTION: I incorrectly reported Stacy Andrews' base salary for 2009 and his the overall  value of his contract in today's paper. The base salary for 2009 is $1.62 million and the overall value of the deal is $38.5 million not including incentives and escalator clauses.

I'm a die hard Raiders fan, so I know how bad we are not that it was any secret or anything but if we do bring in T.O I cant begin to imagine whats going to happen, especially when Russel is not able to get the ball to him, because of are horrible offensive line. NOT GOOD, but as long as Al Davis is in charge will just keep on spending big money on useless players. pomona podiatrist

remember when T.O. said in an interview, after being asked about us booing him, that he knew we would take him back in a heartbeat if given the chance. Well, here's our chance jerk, and we won't touch you with a 100 ft. pole.

I'd take him back. he still has a lot of talent that we need and he certainly understands what the Eagles will or will not put up with. I he was brought onboard he would certainly know and understand what part of his act the Eagles will put up with and what the consequences are if he oversteps the line.

As I said earlier to a few friends of mine, what have they done WITHOUT TO and what have they done WITH TO? This entire franchise is so disenchanting anymore. Why not stir the pot and make it fun again. Bring him back.

Funny you should mention the 49ers v. Packers game from 1999 that was televised last nite. I only saw the last minute of the game replayed but it involved TO's game winning catch with 3 seconds on the clock. I told my wife that watching the interview he gave after that game, vis-a-vis the way he has lived his life since, is a portrait of contrasts; humility v. hubris. In that tearful interview, he gave all due credit to the Lord, gave due credit to his teammates and above all--Jesus, by name, in a very humble tone. Compare that to the self-centered, obnoxious rants and raves that have made him unloved everywhere he has played since. Somewhere T.O. lost his way. It's a tragedy. He is the personification of the warning found in Proverbs: "Pride goes before the fall."

Put all the nuts and excons on our team. All I want is a super bowl to shut up these Giants fans up here where I live. Win a Super bowl and go in the tank for 5 years. Fine with me.

Yeah, what interest would the Eagles have in a premiere wide receiver who took us to the superbowl last time he played for the Eagles. We were a fratured leg (Owens) & some Super-Porcelain-Bowl hugging (McNabb) of winning the Superbowl. Why would we want some of THAT again??
