Source: No truth to Kolb/Browns report

POSTED: Wednesday, September 22, 2010, 2:46 PM

It seems the Kevin Kolb trade rumors have begun circulating.

The first: A report that the Cleveland Browns contacted the Eagles Tuesday night about acquiring the now-backup quarterback to Michael Vick.

Not true "whatsoever," said a source close to the situation.

Earlier Wednesday morning, Eagles coach Andy Reid could not defintively say that Kolb would not be traded by the Oct. 19 trade deadline.

However, asked if he would listed to trade offers for the 26-year-old, Reid said, "No, I want Kevin Kolb on this football team."

A day earlier, Reid said that Kolb had not asked for a trade. Kolb was asked Wednesday about the possibility of playing for another team.

"Right now I'm focused on, 'I have to be this way,'" he said. "I have to focus on, 'What if I have to go in against Jacksonville.'"

He did seem to leave the door open for a team change with this answer to a question about Reid's loyalty:

"So far to this point he's done what's best for my career," Kolb said. "I trust him and I think this will work out the way it's supposed to."

"So far he's done what't best for my career". I think that means during thier talks on Sun & Mon Reid (in a fatherly way) told Kolb he didn't think he was quite ready to start yet. But the possibility was there next year. I say don't trade him because Vick will get hurt this year. Kolb will enter and play well. And Reid will lie and say he always planned to bring Kolb back. Does Kafka have potential? This might play into the trade scenarios.

Vick is the trade bait here. By floating rumors of Kolb being available, they're only increasing Vick's market value. It's simple Reidonomics people. They'll let Vick start and (hopefully) survive with theis terrible O-line. They'll let him finish out the year and then trade him at season's end before he becomes a free agent. Kolb will be your started next year after Reid has revamped the O-line. Bookit.

Kolb for a throwback browns helmet along with a bernie kosar jersey, it would be the steal of the century for the eagles.

The other scenario that is MOST likley: Kolb has a season-ending concussion. But because of the HORRIFIC mismanagement by the team's trainers and doctors, Reid is COVERING HIS MASSIVE BEHIND. Kolb is a good soldier and playing along. This kid is rattled and Reid is borderline criminal. Wait until Bradley goes back down with another one and is out of football. I see two massive lawsuits pending. The gold standard? Right. Try winning a super bowl, like the Giants, Steelers, New England, Cowboys,

Parts of this story appear to be just words thrown together randomly.

Wow talk about going from the Penthouse to the Outhouse. I'm not a big fan of Kolb but that's an unfairly rapid change. NFL really does mean " Not For Long"

i agree with don cornelous,,this is the beginning of the end for BIG RED he's clashing with the front office,BIG RED knows conVick has a better chance of going to Jail then he has going to the SuperBowl..BIG RED wanted to build the team and that takes time with a young franchise QB,,troy aikman was 1-15 in his first full season with a 100 sacks..jeff lurie wanted to rehab conVick and destroyed the whole team.....wolf.
