Source: Kolb won't be at Lehigh

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- If Kevin Kolb isn't traded by tomorrow morning he would be required to report to Eagles training camp in time for a morning practice.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- If Kevin Kolb isn't traded by tomorrow morning he would be required to report to Eagles training camp in time for a morning practice.

Whether he's dealt or not, he isn't going to be here.

Kolb, despite being under contract, won't be at Lehigh University for the Eagles' first training camp practice, an NFL source said Wednesday. The Eagles backup quarterback won't be here, the source indicated, because a trade was still being worked out.

That trade -- Kolb to Arizona for cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and an unspecified draft pick -- is on track to being completed some time this week, several other league sources said.

Of course, a deal isn't done until it's done. There are a few moving parts that have held the trade up from being finalized, one being a contract extension for Kolb. He has one year left on his contract and the Cardinals would likely want to lock him up long-term after giving up so much in compensation.

If the Eagles and Cardinals can't agree on a swap, other teams are interested in the 26-year-old, a league source said. There aren't many viable candidates remaining, however. The Dolphins are reportedly in negotiations to acquire quarterback Kyle Orton from Denver.

Cleveland could be another possibility, but the Browns are expected to go with Colt McCoy as their starter. Cincinnati could need a quarterback if it doesn't bring Carson Palmer back. The 49ers resigned Alex Smith and drafted Colin Kaepernick, but they may be interested.
