Eagles Training Camp - Military Day Video: Eagles Training Camp - Military Day

It's showtime for Eagles' offensive lineman Max Jean-Gilles tomorrow in Steel City. This is where the 24-year-old gets to prove what others have been saying about in this training camp: that's he filled in well for All-Pro right guard Shawn Andrews and has earned a starting job during Andrews' absence in camp because of depression.

“It’s gonna be pretty interesting," Jean-Gilles said of his start against the Steelers. "I’m gonna have a lot of fun out there, coming out and starting with the [No. 1 unit]. I’m gonna try and showcase my talent and let the coaches know I’m ready."

He's got enormous shoes to fill here in Andrews' spot.

“Whenever somebody goes to the pro bowl back to back, those are tremendous shoes to fill," he said. "I have a long ways to go.”

I asked Max if he felt he had to validate what others have said about him during camp with a strong showing against the No. 1 defense in the NFL from last season.

“Not really," he replied. "I will just go out there and do what I do. Work on my fundamentals, what my coach taught me, go over plays and show them what I got.”

Coach Andy Reid mentioned he thought Jean-Gilles had improved in camp on his pass blocking but ...  "That's the

thing he has worked hardest at," Reid said. "I think he has done a good job with it but we have to see him against different people and see how he does."
