Report: Eagles add Vick

POSTED: Thursday, August 13, 2009, 8:46 PM

Are you for or against the Eagles signing Michael Vick?
For.
Against.

You thought bringing T.O. to Philly was controversial?

The Eagles signed Michael Vick, the former Atlanta Falcons quarterback who was recently released from prison, to a two-year contract, the team confirmed tonight.

In August 2007, Vick was convicted of conspiracy and running a dogfighting operation. He was sentenced to serve 23 months in a federal prison and was indefinitely suspended from the NFL. Vick was released to home supervision. He was confined until July 20. Soon after he met with Roger Godell and NFL commissioner conditionally lifted the suspension.

Vick was rumored to be headed to several teams, including the Eagles' preseason opponent tonight, the New England Patriots. Suddenly, the game, currently under way, lost all meaning. The Eagles have pulled off the shocker of  what has been an eventful preseason for the local football team.

According to espn.com, Vick arrived in Philadelphia on Tuesday to meet with the Eagles. He stayed until Wednesday evening. What the Eagles plan to do with the quarterback that was once the NFL's highest-paid player remains to be seen. Donovan McNabb is the starter. Kevin Kolb is the backup. But Kolb recently sprained the MCL in his knee, although the injury is believed to be minor.

More than likely, Vick will be used in the 'Wildcat' formation, as a decoy and as a runner.

Vick did his time. Our wildcat offense could be legendary this year, and I certainly hope they utilize him in efforts to improve red zone performance.

I live near ATL. and I hated him when he was with the Falcons. He is one of the dumbest players I have ever seen. I love my Eagles, but this is a tough pill to swallow. Andy... Really? Michael Vick? Really?

Attendance is down at all sports now, so the birds will replace the halftime skin show with dog fights.

I am no longer an eagles fan. I will never support or root for them as long as I live. I hope they lose every game. You are a POOR EXCUSE for a PRO football team. It is really sad that you had to go to the BOTTOM of the barrel to pick up a back up. I hope you lose sooooooooo much money and fans you can no longer be in the NFL! The eagles are LOSERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vick blew in 2006, why would anyone think he will be better now? He was 31st in completion percentage and is coming in to a pass-happy system. This is only worth it if Dungy comes along and takes over the playcalling.

Gives a whole new meaning to dollar dog night! Hope the Eagles are rady for protesters holding 'Dog Killer' signs. Ironic that AJ Feeley suddenly looks good.
