Vick endorses Favre to Eagles

UPDATE:
While it is unlikely that the Brett Favre-to-Eagles rumors will quell now that the cat is out of the bag, the probability of such a pairing is low.
Whether the Eagles have any interest or not, the likelihood of the Favre circus coming to this town was characterized by several league sources as the longest of long shots.
That won't likely end the speculation or the talk radio chatter, but the week is expected to be full of activity and rumors with the lockout near over and free agency on the horizon. So maybe the Favre-to-Eagles gossip won't end up having much legs anyway.
Or it will.
Eagles quarterback Michael Vick tweeted the following Sunday morning: "I would be honored to have Brett Favre as a backup. That will be amazing learning how to toy with defenses the way he did his whole career."
FROM LAST NIGHT:
You knew it was coming.
The lockout's not even over, the Eagles haven't even traded Kevin Kolb yet, but a report has surfaced that the team is interested in Brett Favre as their backup for next season.
WIP's Howard Eskin, citing sources, went on NBC10 this evening and reported that it was "possible" the Eagles could sign the future Hall of Fame quarterback.
A team source told The Inquirer that bringing Favre to Philly was a "long shot" and that a "lot of things would need to fall into place" for it happen. For one, Favre may not even want to play football anymore, although he's held the NFL hostage before with his will-he-or-won't-he-retire act.
And if Favre even wants to un-retire, who says he wants to come back as a backup? The 41-year old has made it clear before that he never wanted to play second string.
But there are a few reasons to think Favre may be willing to accept an offer from the Eagles. He has a close bond with Eagles head coach Andy Reid and offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg, having worked with both in Green Bay. And he may also want one last shot at winning a Super Bowl.
The Eagles will likely be in search of a starting-caliber quarterback as Michael Vick's backup if and when they trade Kolb. There are several candidates on the market, including Seattle's Matt Hasselbeck and St. Louis' Marc Bulger, but neither has the cachet of Favre, even though he was banged up by the end of last season.
He is a loser

Just Eskin trying to stir up another controversy.... M60tanker

ok so its pretty clear that nobody wants favre in an eagles uniform. if only the eagles front office could read these reactions Anything_Philly_is4me
Just picture Favre running for his life behind our offensive line..hmmmmm. Mc5 would actually work. Pheathers in Florida
DO NOT WANT. 1redcat
Cachet is the word. Not cache. Unless you mean that Favre has some leftover talent hidden away somewhere. Then we could talk about the "cache of Favre" as the writer did. Once again modern sports journalism veers close to illiteracy. Dave Clemens
Not cool and keep him out of our city shawnmac- i like being in a city that always has rumors of players comming here but this is by far the dumbest one i heard. Brett is retired. He wouldnt be talked into comming back to be a back up for the eagles. This would make sence if thye were talking about makeing him a qb coach or somthing, cuz wen i seen the headline i instantly thought marty n andy worked with him, he might be a coach here. Back up? no. Favre is still a pro bowl caliber qb even though he had injuries to his team and hiself last year, you have to remember he was one year removed from a record breaking probowl year in which they made it to the NFC championship, take away all the injuries thaat messed up the vikings last year and see how they did. then Lets add to the fact that one of the reasons vick got the job as an eagle cuz klob couldnt out run the defenses who ran through our offensive line like a bunch of poor people goin to walmart on black friday. so do you really think princess brett would come to a team with a crappy offensive line? again the answer is no. change this rumor to a coaching position and it may have more weight in the rumor mill. right now its just pathetic.
what a croc of sh*t Sam Crow
Please no

as the #42 comment on here this will be the first in favor of favre. i'm not even coming back on here to see the abuse i'm going to get, so fire away. i'm betting that favre realizes what he has left in the tank after the last few years. i think he knows he can't do it as a starter ever again. i believe he can do it as a back up if it doesnt turn into a starting job. a game here or a couple games there. he showed me that in a limited capacity he can still do the job. we all know he knows the system and reids mindset. more importantly, i believe he might be looking down the road taking on a coaching position. i would trust him watching from the sidelines and seeing the o line work under vick. understanding their strengths and weaknesses in case he has to step in for a game or two. i don't and never cared about the soap opera aspect he brought with him each year. i don't think his teamates do either. most only care about in between the lines. if vick goes down i don't think they will panic with favre. in a couple of years quarterback coach, favre might be a good thing. ok, let me have it. atimelost
Vick endorses Favre...once again this shows that Vick is a moron. Favre is an ego maniac that thinks he is bigger than the game. Kioto
