Report: Jackson to end holdout
Jonathan Tamari
DeSean Jackson will end his hold out and report to Eagles training camp either Monday or Tuesday, according to a report from 6ABC.
Jackson has not reported to Eagles training camp, and while neither he nor his representatives have said anything about the situation, it's well known that he has wanted a new contract that matches his value as a Pro Bowl wide receiver. Jackson does not have a new contract, 6ABC reported.
The Eagles reported to Lehigh on Wednesday, but players were given until Thursday to report before facing any penalties, because of the quick re-start after the NFL lockout. The team only began padded practices Sunday. Jackson could be fined $30,000 for every day of camp he missed, though the team has not commented on any disciplinary action.
Because of his hold out and the lockout, Jackson has not worked with the team since the Eagles season ended in January. With Jeremy Maclin also out of training camp due to an illness, the Eagles have been missing their top two wide receivers.
Jackson's agent and spokesman did not immediately return messages seeking comment.
- If it makes you feel any better, I was drafted in the Army in 1969, and made as an E4 in Viet Nam $289 a month.

THIS IS WRONG!! PFT already checked with a source that says this report is wrong. thomaspfoolery
The Eagles know they want to redo his contract. The lockout just made it more difficult. He will get paid. Just show up. palmyra21
It's not about him honoring his contract. It is about the birds extending and keeping him. If they don't he could leave and no one in Philly wants that. Give him a raise and extend him. I say 8-10 million a year with 15-20 guaranteed over 5 years. ceocreates
Its looking like Maclin may miss significant time (if Andy Reid's silence on the matter means anything). The Eagles better stop screwing around and take care of Jackson or they may find themselves short of their two top receivers. SteveS11
This has gone on TOO long. DJax deserves to GET paid. The guy has put his life on the line, aka taking that vicious hit administered by Atlanta's Dunta Robinson. PAY him! He has out performed his current deal. You have to wonder if DJax & The Eagles are hiding some internal matter that he may have occured and that HAS NOT been reported & The Eagles are holding it against him! Just sayin. Has something occured off the field that we the fans don't know about? THE GUY DESERVES to get PAID, PERIOD! I want DJax on good behavior when Randy Moss arrives.. dudega
Like Teddy KGB said, "pay im...pay zat man ees money" n62
He shouldn't run back a punt or kick off, or run anything but a fly or sideline pattern until he gets a new contract. Likewise, he should step out of bounds as soon as he catches the ball. He should not do any hitting. BLUEBELLION
DJax is doing the classy thing unlike the punk ex-QB who bellyached his way out of town. Astro Jones
I am so sick and tired of these athletes who play a game for a living, acting like prima donnas. What The Eagles should do is show him the door. Why were we up in arms over TO wanting to renegoiate yet so many fans seem to side with Jackson? Grow up DJack! BG in So.Cal- TO had just finished the FIRST year of a 7 year $49mil deal when he wanted to renegotiate. In addition, he was badmouthing teammates and mgmt.
Desean is in the final year of his rookie contract, which he has outperformed by a long shot. It is not uncommon, even for the Eagles, to renegotiate prior to the final year of a contract, particularly when the player has outperformed it (see Westbrook, B.)
Got it? Mabus
I think him reporting to camp makes a lot of sense. It shows a commitment to the team and a willingness to risk something to demonstrate that commitment. Now that he has done that (we think)he should be rewarded for it. He definately is worth more than he is being paid. Hopefully the Eagles will reward him for his loyalty. JimSeitz
Pay the man. Don Cornelius
We overestimate what these prima donnas bring to the Eagles. The Eagles make no more money because of DeSean Jackson's talents. Their financial success has been bolstered by the play of many players over decades creating the the great tradition and relationship to the fans. He signed a contract. Let him honor it. Players on the
'60 Eagles had more to do with today's financial success than DeSean Jackson and his contemporaries. retzlaff
"The organization is hoping Jackson gets hurt so we don't have to pay him anything. Look at how we treated Stew Bradley."
