Reid: Vick remains the starter, when healthy; Kolb: just want to win

Kevin Kolb gets another chance this week. He will be the first team quarterback all week and the clear starter heading into Sunday's game against the 0-4 49ers.
But he said he is focused on the game, not reclaiming the starting job.
"If I get into all that, then I'm focusing on the wrong thing," Kolb said. "My focus right now is to go beat San Francisco and make sure I do my part to do that."
Head coach Andy Reid was initially non-committal when asked if Kolb could win the starting job back from the injured Michael Vick, but later told the Inquirer's Ashley Fox that Vick remains the team's starter.
Asked if the job was up for grabs, Reid said, "No, (Vick's) the starting quarterback."
Reid praised Kolb's play Sunday, though both he and the quarterback said there were some chances to throw downfield that Kolb missed.
Reid said he does not expect to bring in another quarterback this week, leaving rookie Mike Kafka as Kolb's only back up.
LeSean McCoy (rib), Riley Cooper (concussion) and Asante Samuel (concussion) all sat out practice today, but Reid sounded optimistic about their chances to play Sunday. Samuel went through a team walk through this morning, and Cooper told reporters he felt good.
McCoy was not in the locker room when it was open to the media, but he played the entire second half last week with his broken rib, which Reid said is lower on his body than Vick's cartilage tear -- and therefore less burdensome.
UPDATED: McCoy said he hurt his rib in the third quarter and played through it, but wasn't sure if he would be ready for Sunday's game.
"I definitely feel a lot better than I did during the game and after the game," McCoy said. "I just feel like the more treatment I get, the better I’ll become."
But asked specifically about his prospects for Sunday, he said, "it's so early to tell right now, so we’ll find out."
Reid hinted at a potential line up change on defense, saying Moise Fokou will get some first team repetitions at strong side linebacker this week, in place of Akeem Jordan. Jordan has had an up and down season, making plays some weeks, and invisible in others.
Fokou said he was not told he was starting, but that he is going to share snaps with Jordan in practice.

Comment removed.- Yeah, Wolf 4 - Thank God Kolb doesn't get injured. Oh, wait!!!!
- I hope Kafka is ready for some action. I can sense a Kolb injury coming.
I think 49ers win this week at home. No way they go 0-5. watsonmr
This is why Reid is committed to Vick being the starter

Andy maybe dumb but he's not dumb enough to start a bABYARM over the NFC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE MONTH! BooDuhBud
Kolb entered the game thinking 'no mistakes' first, yardage second. I don't think it was an issue of him checking down too fast, I think he was coming out of the huddle looking for short, safe passes. Should be a different story Sunday night, when he gets the opportunity to start. Also, even though it was a poor performance, he did put us into position to win at the end. No excuses for Jason Avant. You get paid to hang onto those. vegetine
I really wish philly.com would remove the comment boxes. I get sucked in to reading you idiots every time. 1 out of every 15 posts makes any kind of fair, rational sense. R3- vegetine
Excuses, excuses, excuses. Avant was supposed to deflect the ball toward Celek, because all the defenders are instructed to bat the ball down. I'm so glad KLOB will get yet another chance. Let's end his career now and forever more. - vegetine: watch the Kolb film available on NFL.com. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-network-playbook/09000d5d81b19019/Playbook-Kolb-s-missed-chances
- I'm thinking also that the Vikings ahould realy develop a wide reciever and use Rice's injury to see what they have in their other wide outs. This guy Moss has really never proved anything and has just been simply lucky and bringing him in is unfair to Berrian and Camarillo.
- My if's are pretty realistic according to oddsmakers. Dallas is favored but they are already a game back, Giants and Skins are dogs this week. The big IF is can the Eagle win at San Fran, they are -3 underdogs but, if McCoy can play I think the Eagles will win at San Fran. Thus they are back in first place next week.
Beating Atlanta isn't easy at home but I think they can and should be favored at home. I also think they can take the Titans on the road. After that all bets are off. Division games are all a toss up. Texans and Colts will pick the Eagles apart.
The Eagles two loses were close games and winnable with final drive opportunities that didn't pan out. They can beat anyone in the division and in the NFC.
Back to my point earlier, everyone talks about Vick and Kolb. The real issue no one talks about is the oline and penalties. Fix both of those and the Eagles can make a run at it. pking222
