Reid: "Embarrassing"

INDIANAPOLIS -- Embarrassing.

Yep, that about sums it up. And this was a preseason game. Makes you all giggly thinking about the season opener, doesn't it?

"All in all, that was an embarrassing performance and way too many penalties, not enough intensity all the way around, starting with me," Eagles coach Andy Reid said of his team's 23-15 loss to the Colts last night at Lucas Oil Stadium. "It was a poor performance."

It's been that kind of preseason for the Eagles. After the game quarterback Donovan McNabb conceded that "it's been interesting. It's been a carousel."

Based off the injuries and the off-the-field distractions, there could be some more spinning for the Eagles. The good news is that it's still very early here. There are still two preseason games left. And, well, it was a preseason game.

Speaking of Michael Vick -- now there's a non sequitur -- there were no protests outside the stadium regarding the new Eagles quarterback, according to the Associated Press. A few fans brought in signs to express concerns about last week's signing, though.

Injuries. Fullback Leonard Weaver suffered a MCL sprain in one of his knees. Reid didn't think it would be a long-term problem. Linebacker Tracy White had a rib sprain. And cornerback Ellis Hobbs sprained his left ankle.

Tight end Brent Celek, who made the trip despite not practicing much during the week with an AC shoulder sprain, did not play, he said, because the trainers wanted to be cautious.
