Reid expects Vick for Miami
Jeff McLane, Inquirer Staff Writer
Eagles coach Andy Reid said that he expected Michael Vick to practice on Monday and that he thought there was a good chance the injured quarterback would be back for the Dec. 11 game at the Miami Dolphins.
Reid, following the Eagles' low-point-of-the-season loss to the Seahawks on Thursday, was asked by reporters at the NovaCare Complex if Vick would return for Monday's light practice. Vick hasn't practiced since he broke two ribs against the Cardinals on Nov. 13.
"I do. In what role, we’ll see," Reid said, according to a transcript released by the Eagles. "There’s a pretty good chance he’s back."
Vick has thrown the ball on the side for a little over a week, but Vince Young has taken all the reps at practice and started the last three games. Reid said he thought Vick would be ready to play against the Dolphins in nine days.
“I think so," Reid said. "I’d like to see him throw the ball and really put torque on it for at least a handful of throws or more than a handful of throws."
Reid would not commit to Young if Vick couldn't go for a fourth straight game. He was asked if he considered benching Young, who tossed four interceptions against Seattle, for Mike Kafka.
"Like I said, [Young] had a couple of beautiful throws," Reid said. "There were a couple he threw to the other team, but he had a couple beautiful throws where he came back and made some nice plays. To answer your question — no, I did not [consider benching Young]."
Young has thrown eight interceptions in three games as a starter.
In other injury news, Reid said that cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, who suffered a concussion on Thursday, would start to follow the protocol for returning from such a head injury. He said that wide receiver Jeremy Maclin (shoulder/hamstring), cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (ankle) and tackle King Dunlap (concussion) were progressing.
Reid also said that special teams ace Colt Anderson would undergo knee surgery to correct a torn ACL. Anderson's season is over and he will be placed on injured reserve. The Eagles will have to replace Anderson's spot on the 53-man roster.
They also signed cornerback D.J. Johnson to the practice squad.
I remember signing a Fire Andy Reid petition a few years ago. Whatever happened to that??And I agree with the posters who are questioning why Vick would come back and play next week when we have Kafka on the bench. Let Kafka play so we can see what he's got. If he sucks then we will be in postion to draft a QB for the future with our high draft pick. (HTML deleted) BleedPhilly

Thanks Rick, shut-up Frank. Broken ribs are nothing to play with...you feel Tony Romo's ribs the same as vick? You sound like a little kid..."Tony don't hurt so Mikey hurt same, so can he play mommy". I'm 250lbs let me bust your ribs and see if you can play. You sorry SOB. Showtime226
I'm a Die-Hard Eagles Fan. Why isn't when we have home games, no one is yelling or making noise when the other team has the ball. The man is in the shot-gun and they all hear the plays...C'mon crowd make some noise. Because of work I don't live in Philly anymore but if I was at the games I would make noise everytime the other team had the ball no matter if they were on the Eagles 5 or there own. MAKE SOME NOISE. I just love Karma. Stop hiring felons. No one should forget what a felon does. Make these athletes follow the law just like the rest of us little people. You can be a good athlete and be a law abiding citizen at the same time. Stop paying these athletes way too much money and don't let felons back in the game. Teach kids the right lessons in life and not the wrong lessons. It has nothing to do with forgiveness. It has to do with doing the right thing for kids. kindness32
Bummer for Colt Anderson. One of the few guys left on the team giving 110% Get well soon! december77
Agreed december77. Colt is one of the few players on the team that makes plays and knows how to tackle. Hope he will be ready for next season. fanup
Does Vick still have the jumper cables and car battery? If he's not using them, several Eagles fans would like to do so. rhawnhurster
Selling your soul to the Devil is never a good idea. You went with the dog killer, Andy, now live with it! Dragon13
Vick should have taken notes from Romo and needed to man-up and play. Romo played and was successful, his T-E-A-M stepped up and made plays. I hate to say it but Dallas is responding to Romo putting it all on the line and playing hurt. Yes, Vince (Bad Dream) Young is that bad. He continually throws low, behind and under all his receivers except Cooper who is so slow he can be timed in the 40 with a sundial. NC Eagle Fan
When Vick was healthy Eagles were in the NFL top 5 in every offensive category. Haters like to criticize hurt Black quarterbacks but love Peyton Manning hurt or not. Guess Sanchez and Rivers are great too because of melanin. Come back strong Vick. Support the Eagles and hate any false fans with biased web posts. allworld2- There are a few hate mongers on this site who peddle lies and deception Not facts. Theirs is an anti- Christian message.
Vick has paid for not being able to say no- to the cronies he grew up with. He has been forgiven by PETA and has aided their cause.
A white guy. saunhi
Vick sucks! Geno D
Who cares if Vick is back!! He wins less of the time than V Young! And if V. Young ever takes a snap again in the NFL, every person associated with it better get canned. Hire Jeff Fisher & draft a QB in the 1st round. Cut Vick after the season. FetchDixon
