Eagles quarterback Michael Vick has been throwing on the side at practice for a little over a week. Coach Andy Reid said there’s “a pretty good chance” he’ll be able to play in the game against the Dolphins on Dec. 11. (DAVID MAIALETTI / Staff Photographer)

Eagles coach Andy Reid said that he expected Michael Vick to practice on Monday and that he thought there was a good chance the injured quarterback would be back for the Dec. 11 game at the Miami Dolphins.

Reid, following the Eagles' low-point-of-the-season loss to the Seahawks on Thursday, was asked by reporters at the NovaCare Complex if Vick would return for Monday's light practice. Vick hasn't practiced since he broke two ribs against the Cardinals on Nov. 13.

"I do. In what role, we’ll see," Reid said, according to a transcript released by the Eagles. "There’s a pretty good chance he’s back."

Vick has thrown the ball on the side for a little over a week, but Vince Young has taken all the reps at practice and started the last three games. Reid said he thought Vick would be ready to play against the Dolphins in nine days.

“I think so," Reid said. "I’d like to see him throw the ball and really put torque on it for at least a handful of throws or more than a handful of throws."

Reid would not commit to Young if Vick couldn't go for a fourth straight game. He was asked if he considered benching Young, who tossed four interceptions against Seattle, for Mike Kafka.

"Like I said, [Young] had a couple of beautiful throws," Reid said. "There were a couple he threw to the other team, but he had a couple beautiful throws where he came back and made some nice plays. To answer your question — no, I did not [consider benching Young]."

Young has thrown eight interceptions in three games as a starter.

In other injury news, Reid said that cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, who suffered a concussion on Thursday, would start to follow the protocol for returning from such a head injury. He said that wide receiver Jeremy Maclin (shoulder/hamstring), cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (ankle) and tackle King Dunlap (concussion) were progressing.

Reid also said that special teams ace Colt Anderson would undergo knee surgery to correct a torn ACL. Anderson's season is over and he will be placed on injured reserve. The Eagles will have to replace Anderson's spot on the 53-man roster.

They also signed cornerback D.J. Johnson to the practice squad.

Vick already missed THREE games with his little boo boo....Tony Romo had broken ribs plus a collapsed lung and Romo NEVER MISSED A GAME.....Vick got his $100 million paycheck and has quit on the team and the fans.

If romo had been playing with a collapsed lung, I believe he would have been carted off the fieled buddy. It was punctured. And when vick broke his ribs he played the rest of the game, just as romo. Vick broke ribs last year and came back in three weeks so I doubt he's "quitting" on the team.

Vick is an awful 3-9 in his 12 games...Vcik is a turnover machine and now has quit on the team after he got his $100 million paycheck.

Vick has always been fools gold. Add in his horrible karma and the Eagles and fans got what they deserved.

If QB karma were real in sports, the team in western PA would have tanked a long time ago.

That team isn't QBed by a sadistic convicted felon. BTW, the groupie that was trying to set him up dropped everything when her phone records were released and her coworkers were interviewed. She was going down for perjury if she didn't drop it.

@Rickm.. Whats frank105 saying thats not true? You dont think when the franchise QB says "ehh I'll sit out 1 more" it doesnt trickle down to the rest of the team?

Why bother with Vick? Seasons over, let Kafka play the last 4 games for experience and to see what hes got.

Vick does well when the O-line BLOCKS well. The rib injury came from a completely UNBLOCKED pass rusher. He seems durable considering the amount of punishment he has taken. He should be REQUIRED to wear that kevlar rib vest though. — saunhi

Who cares if he comes back, injury prone, Reed should have known about his injury prone status and had a better backup, fire Reed, start Kafka and develope someone like a good coach should do. 100 million wasted, way to go Eagles.

Yes, and we also thought making a guy with zero experience D-coordinator was a bad idea, and throwing $100 mil to a small running QB was a bad idea, and not building a top O line was a bad idea, and not having a very good MLB was a bad idea. Not everyone was fooled this year.
