Reid endorses Vick, but says of QB change: "We'll evaluate it as we go"

Who was most responsible for James Sanders’ fumble return TD vs. the Eagles on Sunday?
Michael Vick, for not recognizing the blitz.
LeSean McCoy, for not blocking the right defender.
Andy Reid, for not kicking a field goal.

With Michael Vick struggling and getting hit far too often, Eagles coach Andy Reid was asked if he would consider making a change at quarterback.

"Right now, we're with Michael and that's what we're doing," Reid said Monday after the Eagles' 27-6 loss at Arizona. "We'll evaluate it as we go."

It was the faintest endorsement Reid has given his starting quarterback as questions about Vick's job security mount with each subpar outing. The Eagles are 2-1, but Vick has handed in two dreadful performances and another that was not without its mistakes.

Reid was later asked Monday if he needed to give rookie backup Nick Foles more snaps in practice because Vick is seemingly only more blow away from another serious injury.

"No, not right now," he said.

Foles, who performed well in the preseason mostly against reserves, has yet to take an NFL snap.

In three games, Vick has thrown six interceptions and been charged with three fumbles. He's thrown just three touchdowns, ran for another, and has been sacked nine times. Vick's passer rating is 66.2 and ranks 29th in the NFL.

Vick took 13 hits in the pocket against the Cardinals, according to the official stat sheet, but there were many others that he endured Sunday.

The Eagles host the 2-1 New York Giants on Sunday night.

Reid is victim of paralysis by analysis. He knows this is most likly his last season in Philly and if he changes QB now, he is admitting he made a mistake in Vick. His obstinance continues to grow.

We also need to remember Vick's wonderlic scores were horrible. He simply doesn't have the IQ to lead a complex offense and this is further exacerbated by asking Peyton Manning's former O-Line coach to do the same for a QB whom simply cant read defenses or improvise and adapt fast enough.

Mike Vick wonderlic score was a 20
Only 8 points lower than Peyton Manning
5 points higher than Dan Marino
And 29 whopping points lower than Mike Mamula

I'm not a Vick fan, but bringing up the wonderlic when the guy doesn't have anytime to properly read a defense seems a little obtuse

Reid allowed his offensive line coach to draft the talent and it has showed. He also allowed his other offensive line coach to become defensive coordinator. Dont think this is on Vick as much as it is on Reid's reluctance to design an offense that allows his battered Qb to get the ball out of his hands quickly.

I'm willing to give Vick the Giants, Steelers, Lions games to prove that he can turn it around. If not, turn it over to Foles during the bye week. 3-3 at the bye week means you still have time to make it happen this season with a new QB. Reid has no choice. He will have to prove that his new QB can play to get a contract extension.

I want Mike to succeed too. Nothing more exciting than watching Mike beat teams with his arm and legs, but he is not getting it done. Even when Mike had time to throw, he wasn't getting the ball out quick enough. The game is moving a little too fast for him. Anyone can have a bad game or two, hell, look at the Mannings. I'll give Vick until the bye week to see if it changes.

Vick is terrible tyrone, its easy to guess why you think he is the man. He is not in the top 20 in the league and just got his A kicked by Kevin Kolb.

@Tyrone... Sorry cant blame this all on the O-Line. Vick was trending downward since last year and when the O-line was intact this year, he still gave up massive turnovers.

Law of diminishing returns...Vicks days are numbered.

Let's play Jeopardy. The answer is: Ryan Tannehill, Jay Cutler and Brandon Weeden. Contestant: Who are the only QBs in football with lower QB ratings than Mike Vick? Alex: Yes! You win!...Seriously though, I think it's Foles time, and it's also time to get about 3 offensive linemen that don't suck.

They have to stick with Vick this year, but not after that. It wasn't just Vick stinking the joint up. Jackson plays like a little girl. He should have a TD but was just trying to avoid being hit instead on the play at the end of the half. If he scores there it could have been a different game, 17-7 is way different than 24-0. Nmandi also sucks as a cover guy. All he does is grab. Fitz abused him. What are they paying this guy for? If they can move these guys for #1 picks they should do so right now. Boykin has more heart and skill than the great Namdi, Avant will finish his routes instead of crying at the refs and punking out when he might take a hit, like Jackson. Foles? Who knows? I would say the next time they ared own 24-0 at the half, it might be a real good time to find out if he can play in a regular season game the way he did in the preseason.

With the gameplan he designs for Vick, it's hard to say where more of the blame lies. I think Vick could at least get by in a 50/50 run/pass ratio. He CANNOT, and will NEVER be able to thrive in the current system. Regardless, if he wants Foles to throw it 60 times a game, he's not going to be any better off.

Send the dog murderer and Andy packing! Their days are over and they proved that in the first three games. Vick was a mess yesterday. He held the ball too long too many times. He led the team into the loss and did nothing to make a comeback. The first two weeks they were lucky they won. Vick and Andy are the common link between all three games. Send them packing!!!!
