Reid endorses Vick, but says of QB change: "We'll evaluate it as we go"

Who was most responsible for James Sanders’ fumble return TD vs. the Eagles on Sunday?
Michael Vick, for not recognizing the blitz.
LeSean McCoy, for not blocking the right defender.
Andy Reid, for not kicking a field goal.

With Michael Vick struggling and getting hit far too often, Eagles coach Andy Reid was asked if he would consider making a change at quarterback.

"Right now, we're with Michael and that's what we're doing," Reid said Monday after the Eagles' 27-6 loss at Arizona. "We'll evaluate it as we go."

It was the faintest endorsement Reid has given his starting quarterback as questions about Vick's job security mount with each subpar outing. The Eagles are 2-1, but Vick has handed in two dreadful performances and another that was not without its mistakes.

Reid was later asked Monday if he needed to give rookie backup Nick Foles more snaps in practice because Vick is seemingly only more blow away from another serious injury.

"No, not right now," he said.

Foles, who performed well in the preseason mostly against reserves, has yet to take an NFL snap.

In three games, Vick has thrown six interceptions and been charged with three fumbles. He's thrown just three touchdowns, ran for another, and has been sacked nine times. Vick's passer rating is 66.2 and ranks 29th in the NFL.

Vick took 13 hits in the pocket against the Cardinals, according to the official stat sheet, but there were many others that he endured Sunday.

The Eagles host the 2-1 New York Giants on Sunday night.

With regards to the grammar and spelling here, I guess the internet has changed the demand from high quality, to who can report the fastest. Demand dictates the product.

You people are uninformed about football. You see Foles play well during the preseason and you think he can perform well against starting defenses. I think Foles has potential, but if you all believe he should be playing now, you really don't understand the game.

what has vick done to prove otherwise but give up the ball thats all he has been good at. so y not see what the rookie is made of you think we dont make sense you make less. put in rookie he does the same as vick its the same difference but the unproven rookie might do better with vick we already know whats gonna go down. just like dude said in a comment before at the goalline when arizona grabbed the fumble and ran it back... saw that from across the world man...

Obviously, Vick doesn't know what he is doing nor does Reid. If you give him time he throws INTs. If he doesn't get time, he fumbles. Pick your poison. Right now, Trent Edwards would probably manage the game better.

Fat Andy will wait until the entire season is ruined by Vick's poor decision-making. And then he'll put Foles in.

Good teams have the Eagles number. The 'O-line' is pathetic and needs new schemes to give Vick time. Reid is still the worst game-day coach. Every NFL team will highlight Jackson's fetal position 1-yardline self-stop. BTW, did anyone see McCoy in Arizona?

I don't think Vick is going anywhere (he'll get it together and start running on more pkays than just standing in the pocket at all cost). However, if he is going to be the scapegoat I hope that it's this season while the best olinemen are injured. Put Foles behind this offense, rather than waiting for peters and Kelce comes back. All of the rookie quarterbacks (the best out of college) have losing records. Luck was touted as the next second coming and the best you all can do is compare quqrterback ratings? QB ratings don't win games, its the intangibles that come with experience that defies QB ratings. If you guys get your great hope Foles, I guarantee you won't be whistling Dixie for long. Who's going to go all out and risk getting injured in the preseason on a rookie backup?

The coach killer has been available to coaches at various times since his release. At one point the Eagles could not even get a late round draft pick for him. Despite that, he was able to convince Reid and Lurie that he could bring them a superbowl. They made him the face of their franchise. Are Reid and Lurie the smart ones? Or is the rest of the league just plain dumb?

Your boy is done, Tyrone. Foles played againsat the same Browns defense that Vick against with the same offensive line. Foles crushed the Browns. Vick barely got out alive. But hey, keep Vick in, (and Andy will do that). This way we'll get rid of the both of them.
