Video: Reid: Turnovers must stop if Eagles want to win

POSTED: Monday, September 24, 2012, 3:55 PM

Video: As Andy Reid was quick to point out, turnovers and pressure on quarterback Michel Vick cost the Eagles in their 27-6 loss to the Cardinals. Zach Berman of the Inquirer checks in from the NovaCare Complex.

More Reid excuses that no one accepts. The problem is due to Vick's inability to adapt to pressure, get rid of the ball quickly and make better decisions. The REAL problem is Reid's refusal to admit that his and Mornhinweg's offensive game plan (pass 50+ times and ignore the running game) is foolish when you consider Vick's problems noted above and the inefficiency of the offensive line to keep pressure off Vick who has to run for his life.

Reid must be stopped...he is a playing tic-tac-toe and all the other coaches already know where his x's and o's are going...the Eagles need a chess player for a coach, someone who can see past the obvious moves and make adjustments accordingly. No I am not saying I'm smarter...I am saying we need someone smarter than Reid. He was able to get this team a lot of wins with Westbrook, McNabb, and a ferocious defense led by the late Coach Johnson and future Hall of Famer Brian Dawkins...but those days are gone, the NFL coaches of NFL have evolved and Reid hasn't...he needs to step down....Vick is a gimmick QB now, and he's lost a step or two but never adapted his own game. Its Reid's fault though..and its the owner's fault for not replacing Reid....give the new kid a shot or get someone else in there....Vick and Reid had their chance, now lets try something else. You know the definition of insanity right.

This is a trick question, right? Vick has six interceptions and three lost fumbles. Guess how you stop the turnovers.

There just seems to be an effort on the Eagle's coaching staff to outsmart their opponent rather than just execute better what you do well. Why did everyone but them understand you MUST stop Fitzgerald to win, why did they go in with a gameplan that has them running the ball a few token times and use a 7 step drop behind a makeshift line when every other team with this issue goes to a quick 3 step release? Dumb down the playbook and just go with what works; stop forcing the vertical game at all costs regardless of what the defense shows you....This is a big, big game this week...

Vick can run. Vick has a strong arm. Vick can't make reads on defences. Bottom line he can win you some games with his athleticism but he is not taking us to the super bowl. Plain and simple. I hold no grudge it is just fact.

Vick is a turn over machine.... The Eagles sealed a NFC championship victory with a Vick INT

That turnover and score on the Eagles at halftime can't be blamed on Vick. A blitzer was coming from his blind side unabated. Andy and Marty need two running backs in the back field, one being a jumbo blocking full back, reserve lineman or tight end, particularly with a when the is porous. This way a blitzers can be put on their butts with time to pass or a big hole can be opened up for a run.

Maybe the turnovers stop when the Coach is FIRED.
Send Andy and his ridiculous game plans packing.

Would like to see Reid out there getting hit 40 times in 3 games.
Maybe Andy needs that to knock some sense into him.

Yes, Vick is not playing well.

Nfl scouts always say: "the 2 things needed to be a great QB are football intelligence and throwing accuracy. Vick has neither.

Reid has consistently over his time here made us one dimensional going into games. When for all those years his friend and D coordinator, Jim Johnson would always say when asked what do you need to do to win....his response would be ...stop the run and make them one dimensional. Reid does this for his opponents..putting undue pressure on whoever the QB may be. On the rare occasions we put our back up in...is when he truly game plans and runs a balanced attack. I would love to interview D coordinators around the league and ask them what they focus on stopping when facing us. It most certainly is not McCoy and the running game. Reid is flawed so much that we'll never win with him...we must let him go.

BTW, I really like the capacity of the boo boo birdies and other whiners and malcontents to give free passes to some few players. Currently it's Cliff Lee in baseball and Michael Vick in football. Do you people think Donovan McNabb wasn't ht way to often! Do you think Randall Cunningham wasn't hit way too often? You tried to crucify, to coin a term, them. BUT, good ole Mikey Vick gets a free pass from you!
    GOOD GRIEF!

I have been a Vick supporter, however, I stated at the end of last year that 2012 had to be better. It is not, in fact Vick is off to a horrible start. It looks to me as if 2010 was a complete fluke. If Vick does not improve in the next few games, it will be time to turn it over to the a new QB, one that has the traditional QB skills and can take care of the ball.

Vick is playing bad, but the O-line is dreadfuf. 2-3 guys are missing blocks on the same play, so Marino would get killed even with his blazing release with this bunch. I know Vick is the 100 mil man, but the other 10 need to earn their paycheck too. McCoy is a running stud, but my grandma could pass block better.

so what's worse --losing a game in embarassing blow-out, losing a game by giving it away in last 2 minutes like last year, or having the referees give it to the other team

The other night I saw Aaron Rodgers get sacked 8 times in the first half vs. Seattle. After half time the Packers went to a 2 tightend set and ran the ball - rendering the pass rush 100x's less effective......The Eagles don't have a coach that makes adjustments. Don't have a staff that's willing to say hey coach we have an all world back that can carry this team and open up the pass.....not committed to being less cute and more stable
