Reid: Eagles have talked trades
Jeff McLane, Inquirer Staff Writer
Andy Reid said that the Eagles have had discussions with other teams about potential trades with the NFL's trade deadline looming Tuesday at 4 p.m.
"Everybody’s calling everybody right now," the Eagles coach said. "That’s what takes place. So to tell you that we haven’t talked to anybody, I can’t tell you that."
The Eagles are seen as both potential sellers and buyers in the market because they do have depth at certain spots, but are also light in other areas. For instance, with defensive end Brandon Graham eligible to come off the physically unable to perform list next week, a veteran like Juqua Parker could be expendable.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Sunday that Parker's name has been brought up in trade discussions.
“If that’s the route we go," Reid said. "We’ve got an abundance at a couple different positions so we’re not forcing any one position to do anything. People ask those types of questions ... so you evaluate what’s going to benefit the Philadelphia Eagles the most when you do these deals."
Reid was evasive about Graham's activation, although he said that he expects the second-year player to start practicing next week. Per NFL rules, the Eagles have three weeks to make a decision on Graham, who had knee surgery last December.
As for other areas of depth on the Eagles' roster that teams could be eyeing, the Eagles do have three starting-caliber cornerbacks in Nnamdi Asomugha, Asante Samuel and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. The latter two would be the more likely to be moved.
The NFL's trade deadline is not as busy a time period as it is in other professional sports. The Eagles, despite Sunday's 20-13 win over the Redskins, are still just 2-4 heading into the bye week, so they could be looking to shake up the roster with ten games to play.
-- Reid said that Michael Vick was tested for a concussion following the hit he took on the back from Redskins safety LaRon Landry. On the play Vick initially looked seriously hurt as Washington linebacker London Fletcher apparently held him up and called for Eagles trainers. Reid later said that Vick just had the wind knocked from him. Vick said he only got dirt in his eye.
Fletcher "is a smart guy," Reid said. "He tried to bring a little attention to it, and I love the way he plays, he tried bring attention to things. Mike was trying to pull away from him and he made sure he held on to him and tried to get him out of there. Mike was okay, and right when he came to the sideline he said he was fine."
-- Reid said that there was a chance defensive end Trent Cole (calf) and tackle Jason Peters (hamstring) could return to practice next week. The two starters have missed the last two games. Reid said that the bye week should help tackle King Dunlap and his back spasms.
-- Offensive line coach Howard Mudd underwent hip replacement surgery on Monday. Reid said Mudd should be back in time for the Oct. 30 game against the Cowboys.

What GM would be big enough of a crackhead to trade for Juqua Parker, especially since they know either he or the midget CFL DE are going to be released if Graham is activated instead of DL'd? This isn't Madden FFS. Trade candidates:
1) Asante Samuel - you never have enough CBs
2) Vince Young - probably looks pretty good to the Raiders about now
I can't think of anyone else that anyone would want that we would part with. Only in Philly...
I Agree about Vince Young an wouldnt be surprised if we trade him im comfortable with 2 QBS this season and Oakland Needs a Big QB so why not? also maybe get a player for him a LB maybe since they got Aaron curry BoriquaByrds87
Haven't heard from any of the Lonewolves recently. Perhaps the source of the rash of "comment deleted" recently? dlscholt
Lets trade Andy Reid for some porkbelly futures. Smashmouth
At this point, I'd trade our DC for a fine bottle of Malt Liquor. dpcoz
we have to have the stupidest fans in the world. Some morons want to trade Kelce others want to trade Assante. Then there are tards who think we could get something for VY or Ronnie Brown. Holy cow you people are stupid CSpangler

Definitely Vince Young after that lame throw. blueye7
trade Vince Young + Asante for Rolando Mcclain. my pipe dream Jgrimm37
Get over the LB dream, not going to happen. As I have said since Reid came here he is the only coach at any level that has a 'scheme' where he says his linebackers are not that important. Also, I had to cringe at Samuel's tackling technique on the play he got hurt. Lucky he's not paralyzed. How do you get to that level without a clue how to tackle a guy. drenner
