EAGLES ACQUIRE PETERS

POSTED: Friday, April 17, 2009, 1:47 PM

An Eagles source has confirmed that the team has agreed to a deal that will send two draft picks to the Buffalo Bills for two-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Jason Peters. The Bills will get the 28th overall pick of the first round and a fourth-round selection in this year's draft.

The source said that Peters has passed a physical, but the trade will not be completed until the Eagles negotiate a new contract with Eugene Parker, the agent for the 340-pound tackle. Peters was in a much-publicized contract dispute with the Bills last summer, holding out of training camp until just before the start of the season.

He has two years remaining on his existing deal and is scheduled to be paid $3.8 in 2009 and $3.4 million in 2010.

This move would be phenomenal. Our #1 need (in my opinion) met with a young, All-Pro player? This would be a great trade/signing and leave us with ammunition in the draft to still pick top players (RB / TE) or trade (Boldin or Gonzalez?). Our line went from being a concern to a strength with the signing of Andrews and trading for Peters. I am excited if this happens and praise the front office for getting it done.

Well, this clearly means no trade for Boldin, or at least I hope it doesn't. We need to take moreno with #21. But I agree Peters is much better than anyone else could have gotten at 28 (or even 21), like Beatty or Britton. But he's gonna be the highest paid guy on the team now.

The 28th, a fourth and an undisclosed pick next year. Strong move.

27 year-old Pro-Bowl LT vs. 29 year-old Pro-Bowl WR. Well, Tackles usually seem to have a longer life-span in the NFL... and this guy is already younger. This might be a nice long-term investment for the Eagles, as long as this guy stays happy with his salary.

this way the eagles pay a large contract to a proven player...instead of two large contracts to TWO UNPROVEN players...

Jay Glazer is reporting that the Eagles traded the 28th pick and a second day pick in this draft for Peters. Now let's go get Boldin and put the pedal to the medal!

JimCollins, you got me. It's Don "Donnie Brasco" Banks here, lol. I did read his draft, but 80% of the drafts I've seen have them picking Moreno at 21 so it's not a direct line from Banks' draft to that thought. We need another RB to bridge the gap to the future and shoulder some of the load off of Westy. I'd rather they took Wells, but Moreno can catch a lot better than him so I think the front office would go for him. I don't think you pickup a WR at 21, and I hope they don't take pettigrew there either. With the LT need filled, I think you absolutely have to to RB there, unless somehow one of the great Defensive prospects falls to you (and by great I mean Orakp, Raji, Ayers, who will in all likelihood be gone by 21).

LT-Peters LG-Herremans RG-Andrews RT-Andrews That's an impressive 80% of line for the next 4-5 years. Fullback Weaver. Let's get another RB to complement Westbrook. Now AR just needs to figure out how to call some running plays.

LT-Peters, LG-Herremans, RG-Andrews, RT-Andrews. Impressive 80% of O-line for 4-5 years - that should make for a great matchup with Giants. I wouldn't mind seeing Alex Mack as an Eagle to complete the cycle - but get Moreno please!
