EAGLES ACQUIRE PETERS

POSTED: Friday, April 17, 2009, 1:47 PM

An Eagles source has confirmed that the team has agreed to a deal that will send two draft picks to the Buffalo Bills for two-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Jason Peters. The Bills will get the 28th overall pick of the first round and a fourth-round selection in this year's draft.

The source said that Peters has passed a physical, but the trade will not be completed until the Eagles negotiate a new contract with Eugene Parker, the agent for the 340-pound tackle. Peters was in a much-publicized contract dispute with the Bills last summer, holding out of training camp until just before the start of the season.

He has two years remaining on his existing deal and is scheduled to be paid $3.8 in 2009 and $3.4 million in 2010.

Sweet. My only concern is why are the Bills dealing him now?

This is the move I have been waiting for.....there was never any chance of the Eagles trading for Boldin and now we dont have to worry about packaging picks to trade up for an unproven LT. Great move for the Eagles....and the haters will realize they were wrong next season.

Good thing we got a stud OT so he can protect mcnabb when he throws to jason avant's ankles. Terrible deal. Another 8-8 season coming up

There we go! I have a feeling this means we're going for a skill position guy at #21. This gives us plenty of options...trade the pick in a package for Boldin, use it to get Moreno, Pettigrew, or a WR...I like it. I'm worried that Peters' ego will be an issue, but overall, plenty of pros for very few cons...I like it.

HHHMMM, are we really letting A.Reid off the hook for "playing" to his strength, O-Line? can the O-line catch a pass or get 3rd and 1? WE NEED OFFENSIVE PLAYMAKERS!!!!! I'll wait until the draft is over to grade this off season.

Perhaps he won't hold out any longer...I get the feeling he's averse to training camp. Web Conferencing Service

Hey Monty- yeah, RB at #53. Brown will definitely be gone by then but maybe McCoy or Green would still be around.

We wont get boldin now, that hurts. Love securing the O line since I think Runyan was the best FA pickup ever. Just way more exciting signing an offensive weapon as opposed to a boring lineman. Were all gonna cry when Boldin snags an Eli pass for a gm winning td to lose homefield advantage. Or if he goes to Dallas, that would be even worse. Lets get Plex on the cheap when he gets off the hook and no jailtime.

I am an eagles fan in buffalo. I am getting a lot of negative comments from the bills fans here. Peters did allow one of the most amount of sacks in the league last year. he had a terrible year last year but made the pro bowl off reputation. The year before he was considered one of the best young left tackles in the NFL. I like this trade and think he will be great now that he is with a real team. However I hate the idea that this almost certainly means no Boldin. Either way great move and now our o line is set.

Professor: Yes, an offensive line can get you 3rd and one.

how many games can an OT win you in the course of a season? how many games can a stud WR win you in the course of a season? do the math, 9-7 at best.

He probably plays better moving forward, than backpedaling, like most O-linemen. Pretty sure they don't pass 90% of the time in Buffalo. Next Ron Solt for sure. FireAndyReid.com
