Ode to Phillies

I wrote a little ditty for the Inquirer's Eagles version of Talkin the other day, but the editors must have deemed it newspaper-unworthy and cut it from the e-mail exchange. The topic that day was to compare the Eagles and Phillies and how clutch each team was/is. I spent a whole five minutes on the darn thing and felt it needed to see the light of day. What do you think, was it at least blog worthy?

Fly Phillies fly,
Past the Eagles' shrinking fanbase.
Win Phillies win,
Stars you can love: Ryan, Jimmy, Chase
Grab the headlines, Fill the airwaves,
And watch the Eagles cry.

    I love it too. I've heard hundreds of different renditions to this song. And yours, by far, is the best.

    "Past the Eagles shrinking fan base" Way to turn returning to the World Series for two consecutive years - one of the most positive things ever in Philadelphia sports history - into an attack, and a maliciously false attack at that, on another franchise. Typical Negadelphian. Honestly, you disgust me.

    The Iggles should be thankful for the Phil's success. Personally, where I would otherwise be irate, because I can take some satisfaction and consolation from the Phil's, I am merely indifferent to the Igg's stinkin' up the joint to one of the worst teams in the NFL. Leave the song parodies to Weird Al, that sucked.
