Mornhinweg on Maclin, Scott, Vick

Marty Mornhinweg talked offense this morning, and a little Mike Vick - though with a focus on the field.

There was actual football today to go along with the ongoing Michael Vick story.

Marty Mornhinweg addressed several questions about the Eagles' offense, starting with some decent news about wide receiver Jeremy Maclin. Mornhinweg said Maclin has a bone bruise on his knee and is day-to-day, as opposed to the original diagnosis of a hyper-extended knee.

With Maclin out and DeSean Jackson not quite back (though out running on the side today), Riley Cooper and Kelley Washington are among the receivers getting more chances. "We have some big guys, don't we," Mornhinweg said when asked about their red zone impact.

Another big guy, running back Charles Scott, has been getting some looks at fullback.

"He has some of the halfback skills and then he's got a fullback type of build. I mean, this is a big man and he's a tough, physical guy. So, if he can play both and he can play both, I think, and we'll see as we go, at a high level."

Scott has had some problems catching passes out of the backfield, but Mornhinweg said it's a common challenge for running backs coming out of college.

He also did talk Vick, though focusing on his on-the-field impact.

"I would expect Mike to be a little bit bigger factor with our football team this year," especially early in the season, with a full training camp under his belt, Mornhinweg said.
